“Most enjoyable stay!!!”
Reviewed July 27, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here for 2 weeks in July and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had room 38 with comfortable twin beds on the courtyard side. Room had flat screen TV with BBC, CNN and others, good in room wifi, AC, hair dryer. All staff were friendly and generally spoke good Englush. Room was clean, maid service was great, we had a tub and shower. Free ice from ice machine in the lobby, elevator to all floors, free computer with Internet in the lobby.

Location of hotel was great - very close to metro, quite pedestrian only cobblestone road with many quaint shops and restaurants. Laundromat, cleaners, Starbucks, fresh fruit and veggie market all within 2 blocks. We are coming back here in 3 weeks! This hotel was a real find!! On a quiet street too!

The Hotel de L'Esperance is a great little boutique hotel. The price is very reasonable, the location is great (about 3 minutes from the Metro), and in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms are quiet and small, but no smaller than other European hotels of the same kind. The bathrooms are modern (European showers are small) and clean, and the rooms are clean. This hotel has an ice machine in the lobby. There are lots of cafes, bakeries, grocery stores, ATMs, and even a laundromat located nearby. The neighborhood was very pleasant. The rooms were very well air conditioned. The pillows are whimpy and small.

I booked our rooms via the Internet and the responses (I had emailed other hotels as well and received no responses) were very prompt and detailed. I even had to change one of our reservation dates due to an error on my part and the change was handled quickly and accurately.

However, I agree with Robert S1a that the staff could be friendlier. Most of the time they seemed bored and disinterested. One lady manning the front desk really took me to task for printing a boarding pass near the computer located in the lobby, "You should not be using the printer! Next time, ask me before printing!". There was no sign indicating that printing was forbidden. Only a sign saying that hotel patrons were welcome to use the computer but to keep it to a minimum if others were waiting to use it. I offered to pay for the copies I made but she just stomped off. We were also scolded for asking if there were additional ice containers for the ice machine (large plastic beverage cups). When we checked out and had to leave our luggage, this same gal could not have been friendlier. Who knows? Maybe the first incident was prompted by a fight with her boyfriend.

Nonetheless, I'd stay there again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Book early.

We stayed in Paris our last two nights on a nine day tour of Northern France. This was the best room of our while journey.

The room was very clean, quiet and the beds were decent. The location was very good with lots of resteraunts in the area. Easy access to downtown via the metro.

At 95 euros a night in peak season, this is he best value in Paris. You will not be disappointed.

The old man at the front desk guy is very rude. While waiting to check in, I brought coffee into the hotel as it was early morning. Instead of politely saying outside drinks weren't allowed, he berated me in an extremely rude manner. His behavior was a complete over-reaction and only caused me to be angry that I was even staying somewhere where they would treat guests this way. It's not what you said, but how you said it. Your job is customer service, to make people feel welcome and to do this by being polite at all times. I would never stay here again. I can sum up my trip this way: Why would you pay for such behavior?

This hotel met all my expectations and more. The room was more than adequate with twin beds, windows overlooking rooftops and hotel garden, hairdryer, fresh towels daily, clean all around, and comfortable beds. The staff was helpful whenever I inquired about something. The breakfast was so French! It was served as we sat at the little lace covered tables. No milling about trying to decide on Cheerios or Cornflakes. The location was good--close to two Metro stops and a variety of cafe's. By the way, there is a working elevator!

Room Tip: Any room would be good since one only sleeps in it while in Paris.

This was a charming hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Great value for money with rooms costing 80-95 euro. Will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is on a quiet street in the fifth arrondissement. This is busy area but not crowded and much less tourists than in many parts of the city centre. The area is mostly residential with lots of cafés and restaurants with a very neighbourly feeling.

From the hotel it is easy to travel by metro or bus. Five minutes walk to the metro station (Censier Daubenton and Les Gobelins, line M7) and buses 21, 27 47, 83 and 91 have stops close to the hotel. Bit longer walk, 15-20 minutes to local train (Luxembourg and Port-Royal, line RER B) that goes to the international airport. Taxi to the airport cost us 64 euro.

My room was on the second floor and faced the street but there were no disturbing sounds from outside. Room was small but well arranged so it did not feel cramped. Air-conditioning was efficient and not too loud. Everything was very clean and tidy. There was free Wi-Fi in rooms and a computer at the lobby. Nice breakfast for nine euro – orange juice, coffee, a bread roll, a croissant and selection of pastries, all served at your table.
