“Montparnasse”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Actually, this is not N1 must-seen place, but the view from the tower is very good! And if you came here at lunch or dinner time you'll enjoy with a plenty of small cosy tipical cafes. For example La Marine, it has wide range of mussels starting from 8.5 Euro, and the taste was one of the best I've ever ate. So, this is good place to pass by to Eiffel tower or Luxemburg garden.

“The best viewpoint”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

Montpatnasse is the best viewpoint in Paris. The EiffelTower is considered to be wonderful for the purpose though, what is the panorama of Paris without the Eiffel Tower? That's why Montparnasse is great! Not only do you get up almost without any queue but also you can enjoy the view of Paris with the Eiffel Tower !

“Good for Shopping and Eating”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

This district wouldn't be my first choice for staying but that depends on personal interest. However area offers good choices for shopping and eating besides having the tower offering outstanding views over Paris.

“Great Place To Stay”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

Spent 5 days here and really enjoyed being away from the plastic reality of chain hotels and permanent English being spoken.
I speak at least reasonable French - enough to get by without embarrassing myself (although I suspect the average French child has better grammar than I do!) too much and I can read the newspaper. I'd recommend that sort of level at least if you stay around here. The area is not especially touristy and none of the shops in my road (rue de Raymond Losserande) were very evident speakers of English - and all the better for that.
Go up the Tour Montparnasse. Much better views than the Eiffel Tower (because you cannot see the Tour Montparnasse but you can see the ET!) and tiny queues - only 3 people in front of me when I went.
Easy access to Metro - Pernety station was almost next to my hotel.
