Yes, you might think, they are so cultural, visiting gardens and stuff. But no, there was a fun fair and our kids really really wanted to go. A little pricey, I must admit, but it's a great way to keep the kids happy for an hour or so. We had fun too.
Located near the Louvre, this large park has a wide range of spaces. There are clipped lawns, picnic areas, formal gardens, fountains, play areas, food carts, walking paths, and small museums. I walked through the park and found a set of chairs overlooking a pond and fountain below. It was a great spot for a picnic lunch I bought at a nearby grocery. It’s a great place to take a break.
The park is nice and well-kept. Lies between the musee de l'Orangerie and the Louvre. Perfect for a stroll, a sit-down and some food or coffee. A fair at one side of the park did not disturb us.
The park is a busy place, with hundreds of people at any given time, but you'd never know it. It is large enough for pockets of solitude in the sun or shade, and developed enough to have restaurants and coffee kiosks to grab a bite before you find your spot. When you get to the centre of the park, be sure to take in the view down the length of the gardens. It is spectacular. The centre of the park is also where you'll find paid washrooms if you have the need (street-side to the north and south). As with any large city, do be cautious with your belongings. Unfortunately, the park is not exempt from those who'd be happy to lighten your wallet.
Our rental apartment was a block away from the Tuileries, so we visited each evening. The fun fair was going on, and it was nice to see everyone enjoying the fair and the gardens, There is a lot of seating, so you can relax or just wander around and see everything.
