“All in all, a very good hotel and great value for Paris.”
Reviewed September 20, 2011

I traveled with my friend on a multi-city trip of Europe, and it was our first time in Paris. We stayed at this hotel for 6 days, and our two twin bed room was on the first floor, facing away from the street. It was relatively clean although our first impression was that it was very small and odd that the toilet was across the room from the bath/sink. After a day, we got used to the room and it was comfortable.

The hotel was in a nice location and very close to the Metro Stations Villiers and Rome. My friend and I enjoy walking so we frequented the shops close by (over by the supermarket Monoprix), and it was a short walk to Parc Monceau (5-10 min) and relatively pleasant walk to Montmartre (20-25 min). If you walk along the main stretch headed over to Montmartre (Bd des Batignolles) there is even a Starbucks on the way (it was her lifeline so we thought we'd pass this tidbit on). There is a really good restaurant close by called Patio provençal (also close to Monoprix), that was our favorite of the ones that the staff had recommended. If you have time definitely go to this restaurant. We also liked the location in the sense that the immediate area was not a tourist trap and it felt very safe.

The housekeeping staff had a habit of leaving the windows open after cleaning our room but after only one request from my friend to the front desk to keep the window closed this never happened again. The TV had channels in French, German and English. All of the staff we encountered spoke English well and were extremely helpful. We had an early morning flight on the day of departure but they were very accomodating, allowed us to check out the night before and called a taxi for us.

My only negative comment would be that if you are a very light sleeper or extremely sensitive to noise, this might not be your kind of hotel. There will be rumbling noises, I am assuming from the Metro lines being so close by, all times of day, and occasionally you can hear your neighbors walking, talking or flushing the toilet. Because the windows faced inward you sometimes hear the dishes, the garbage being emptied, or side conversations when they were open, but that was not a huge deal. Good thing my friend and I were so busy most of the day and by the time we came back to the hotel we were too tired to worry about that!

All in all, a very good hotel and great value for Paris.

We stayed in Paris for 6 nights at the beginning of September. It was my first time to Paris and this hotel was so comforting to go back to in the evenings after a long day. The room was small but comfortable. The bathroom is fantastic, spacious, and great water pressure. We got a double room with a bath, room 3, which is right above the lighted entrance. The windows open to a beautiful little Parisian street, which happens to be quite noisy... BUT with the windows shut almost all of the noise is blocked out, and the blackout curtains block all the light from the exterior. A/C was used, and very effective. All the staff were extremely curtious and helpful.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that faces the street.

The staff were great! They answered my e-mails before our arrival to help us navigate were we should get the train to Avignon which was so helpful when you don't know the area and want to buy your tickets ahead of time. They got us in our room very early as we were so tired from our overnight flight. They spoke very good english and were helpful making reservations and giving directions. The hotel was in a very convenient location. Walking distance to 2 different metro stations and there was a grocery store directly across the street and a small bakery within a half a block that had delicious pastry and great cappuccino. It was a bit small for 3 people but perfect for our 2 day stay.

A small 2 star hotel surrounded by good quality restaurants and approximately 15-20 mins walk from the Louvre area. We had a room for 7 nights and it fulfilled our needs. For the price we paid we had a small room, very comfortable bed with own shower and separate toilet. The continental breakfast could not faulted and staff were polite and attentive. The hotel was very clean with the Metro being only minutes away. We booked this hotel based on previous favourable reviews on Trip Advisor and we can only endorse what has been previously said.

Room Tip: Away from the tourist areas

This well located hotel is well priced and close to major attractions. We walked easily from Montmartre with only one stop to have some wine, watch passers by and listen to some "gypsy Jazz"in a bar.
The Metro was a 5-10 minute walk with a bus around the corner.
We were 4 women and had no second thoughts about taking the metro home at night.
The rooms were comfortable, clean and there was wii fi for those that need to be connected.
There were also good restaurants near by for a good meal after that big day of touring

Room Tip: Try for one with a balcony-they are small but it's fun to sit out and enjoy the nieghbourhood

The proprietors of this hotel, Catherine and Josef, and their staff make this a great find in Paris. They were very accomodating with my schedule which meant my arrival in Paris got off to a perfect start and they were always accessable for questions. I originally thought this hotel would be a bit removed from the city centre but on arrival found it to be perfectly located between several hip neighborhoods and also within a short distance to multiple metro stops. Yes, my single room was petit but it was plenty for me to get around and be comfortable in for the short time I was in the room and because it is a quite neighborhood I slept well at night. Most important, it was well kept and clean with both airconditioning and windows in addition to the easily working wifi. I tried to rebook this hotel for my departure from Paris as well but unfortunately they were already fully booked.

I booked a stay at the New Orient based entirely on reviews on tripadvisor and it more than met my expectations. It's centrally located and only 10 minutes walk from Villiers metro station and is very easy to reach if arriving by Eurostar. The local area is attractive with a range of bars and restaurants and feels very safe. It's also close enough to walk to the city centre if you're feeling energetic. Check in was welcoming and very quick and my single room, although small, was more than adequate for one person. My room overlooked the courtyard at the back and was very quiet with no traffic noise. Staff are courteous, professional and friendly. The hotel is exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was basic but very good with fresh bread and pastries and piping hot coffee. There is a supermarket directly opposite which is handy. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
