We have stayed in Le Citizen in July for three nights and the hotel is really nice. The rooms are on the small side (as probably in all hotels in Paris) but nicely decorated and stylishly designed. Also they offer every comfort needed. A big plus is the i-pad which is given to the guests during their stay and which not only includes useful restaurant recommendations and other tips but also provides you with quick and convenient internet access. Great idea!
The location is not central in relation to the "classic" sights near the river. However, the area of Canal St. Martin is for me one of the most interesting in Paris. It might especially appeal to young, alternatively oriented people though.
The only downside was the somewhat indifferent service by the male staff members (for some reason the girls were always very friendly and attentive but not their male colleagues).More
