We happened upon Rue Mouffetard by accident, but it was the best accident ever! This is the coolest street- it seems more local than touristy. Tons of markets, gelato shops, fresh food stands, crepe stands. There's a courtyard with music. The atmosphere is amazing and we hope to be able to find a place to stay in the area the next time we go back!

We came across this market on a Sunday walk. Great produce, meat, wine, flowers etc. it's exactly the market you'd wish was right near your accommodation. Lucky for us it was.

We loved the street, you can buy there the best falafel I've ever had, as well as real authentic French quiche (AMAZING- 3.20 euro for a piece, we tried spinach, ham&cheese and mushrooms, all were exceptional, even the pastry:-D ). Really good paninis, lots of variety( 4 euros for an enormous baguette). Plenty of bars and pubs, where you can get a pint for 4 euros during happy hours :-) Chocolatier if you want macaroons, or hand made chocolate, a speciality shop selling fois gras, plenty of restaurants and the food market. I love it there, although there is plenty of wasps( especially in the place, where they sell quiche, breads and pastries) and one of them stung me:-(. Make sure you pop in to the Chapi Chapo pub/bar, maybe it doesn't look impressive from the outside, but it is well cosy inside and it has very interesting decor, with a great bartender. Plenty of room as the indoors goes around the corner, really unusual. We loved it with my husband. Maybe the Rue Mouffetard is a touristy place but you definitely can find some authentic food in there and will enjoy it as it is not too overcrowded.
