An absolutely beautiful building, both inside and out.
Offering free panoramic views of Paris...what more can you ask for!
Plenty of nice cafes nearby for a cup of coffee and a croissant!

This place really is worth the extra effort to get to.

If you are taking the train from the city centre your day pass will allow you to take the cable car train to the top instead of climbing the 450 steps!

We took the puffer train trip - it was rubbish and just winds in and out through cobbled streets and past shops. It costs 6euros which isn't too expensive but I wouldn't recommend it as there isn't much to see. It lasts 35 mins.

Like any major tourist attraction in Paris - stay alert for scammers. My advice is to ignore anyone you don;t know and you will stay out of trouble as the scammers try to catch you off guard.

On reading the reviews I was reluctant to travel to here but I am so glad we did. The Eiffel Tower & city views are lovely.

If you like buying fabric then this will be a great haven for you as there must be 100 shops - prices & quality vast ranging.
The fabric shops are to the right of the steps looking up towards the church.

Don;t forget the Moulin Rogue is here - great photo op just to say you saw it. Its opposite the street that is full of all the adult shops.
It is a bit seedier in this area so stay alert as you will be approached even if you have children with you. Don;t make eye contact with anyone & you will be ok. You will be offered stolen perfume, mobile phones etc

Be aware that the entrance to the Sacre Coeur is blocked by up to 20 + North African Men trying to force visitors to buy lucky bracelets. Very intimidating - What a shame

Thought this church was much more beautiful inside and out than Notre Dame and the views up to the church and over the city at Night time are amazing. Worth a climb if you are fit - take the lift it you aren't. Just don't miss this one when in Paris

There are fantastic photography opportunities all around Sacre-Coeur - not only of the basilica itself, but the surrounding area and city below. My husband and I went in the morning and took the long staircase parallel to the funicular which also provided some great photos. We also stopped by Coquelicot nearby to grab a nice breakfast before visiting. I'm guessing we were fortunate though that we never ran into any gypsies or peddlers in the area.
