“Simply beautiful”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Sacre Coeur is located in Montmartre area. Easiest way to get up the hill is with the Funicular, which is its own experience. You can also climb the stairs right next to it. You see beautiful views towards the city center from the top of the hill, in front of Sacre Coeur. The Basilica is beautiful outside. You won't be allowed to take pictures inside, but it's free to enter and it's lovely inside. If you wish to climb up to the top of Sacre Coeur or see the crypts, you need to pay.

The only downside with this attraction is that it's always crowded on the hill, and it's filled with street vendors, who can be pushy and try to scam you. But if you don't let them bother you, you should be fine to enjoy the Sacred Heart and the views.

“Fantastic Experience”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

A must see!
Not just the fantasic Sacre Coeur itself, but go up there on a weekend afternoon (or maybe even a weekday?) and you'll see a bunch of locals and tourists just chilling out on the stairways of the part leading up it.

The views from the top, and even from the stairs are fantastic so be sure to take your camera (although it feels like I've said that about almost every attraction i've reviewed in Paris).

While taking your camera, be sure to keep your eye on all of your gear, there are a lot of scammers and beggers around these parts, one particular scam is the friendship band - The scammer will say "friendship band" as they attempt to tie a band around your finger, don't fall for it, once it's on they'll be harrassing you to pay for the band - just keep walking and avoiding them as much as you can.

Once you get to the top of the stairs out the front (across the road/way) take a seat on teh stairs and enjopy the view - You'll probably be greeted by more people who you're expecting to be scammers trying to sell you a beer or two to drink whilst enjoying the view. We bought a few and didn't get scammed on the beers, but looking back I tend to wonder where the beers came from, as they were reasonably cheap -we bargained them down to one euro per beer - just make sure the guy you're buying from has COLD ones!

“Please catch the beggars on the way up to the church”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

I had a bad experience at this place. A group of Africans were purposely blocked us on the way up to the Church, they forced us to string bracelet on our wrists and forced us to pay them money eventually. We cannot resist because we are Asians. I felt very disappointed to this place. Please go there with a group of peoples.

“Stunning inside and out”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

The Sacre-Coeur is a must see on any Paris visit. Perched atop the hills of Montmartre, this gorgeous church offers incredible painting and sculpture inside and impressive architecture outside. If you have time, it's worth the 8 euros to climb the 300 stairs to the top of the dome and explore the crypts below. The views from the top of the dome are unparalleled (take your camera) and the crypt offers history and a sense of mystery. As noted by other reviewers, there are many scam artists and beggars outside the basilica who target the many throngs of visitors. In fact, there are so many, it's almost comical and sad. Just beware of your belongings, don't accept anything anyone tries to hand you and don't let anyone try to put a bracelet on your wrist.

“Inside absolutely stunning”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

Definately worth a visit, also on the street walking up towards the church are lots of gift shops which sell reasonable touris gifts. Be careful of the people on the way up to the church, they will try to put a friendship bracelet on your finger and get you to buy it. Keep your hands in your pocket and try to dodge them both up and down from the church. Also other people try to see handbags etc. Once you get up the top, is very busy and full of people. Be careful. To get here get the metro to Anvers. About a 5 min walk to the church.
