Being in Paris in winter time has its plus side but not for the open markets. I am sure this street market is great during springtime and summer but during winter it can get really chilly. The crowds were there my fiance said when he went there one morning but the two times I went there during noontime, it was nothing. The regular stalls were open but not much hustling and bustling..I loved it don't get me wrong...I had the whole block to myself.
Just plan head if you want the market experience coz there is nothing happening on rue Clear in the freezing winter. The cafe looked nice and toasty warm inside though.

I have stayed in the Rue Cler area twice now. Once in summer and again in winter. It is probably a little busier with more going on in summer, but still good at anytime. It is lovely to visit and you can spend hours wandering and exploring the markets. The shops and cafes cater to both tourists and locals - a nice mix.

If you enjoy experiencing differnent types of foods, or you want to have a night in Paris where you dont eat out (baguette, bordeaux and cheese is a balanced meal ... But this area offers much more!!!) you'll love Rue Cler.

First night i wandered through i ended up eating chinese. And it was great! Take a walk through the blocks of rue cler. Sample cheese, smell fresh beautiful flowers, make a stop to see the fresh fish, then grab yourself a dessert from one (or more) of the many places on the walk. A great place you wont want to skip

Here you can find great things to eat and purchase, locals are here shopping too. It is quaint with sidewalk cafes and brasseries. Everything French that you may look for seems to be here. Just walk into a vegetable market and marvel at why french food looks so much better than yours, marvel at yellow pineapples when you have only seen ones that are green and brown! Walk past the flower shops, and even in the dead of winter you can smell roses from many yards away as you approach! A delight for all senses and a mystery at the same time!

Rue Cler is closed to vehicles, so pedestrians can walk in the cobblestone street. It is lined with boulangeries, pâtisserie, wine shops, produce stands and the most wonderful cheese shop (Fromager) I have ever seen. It was a perfect place to enjoy the scenery while buying supplies for our hotel room nearby. The atmosphere is perfectly quaint and lovely. Visiting here is a MUST if you are near the neighborhood, and it's even worth the trip from other parts of the city.
