“Gorgeous Interior”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013

This opera house is definitely known for its beauty as well as the shows it hosts. The interior is absolutely breathtaking, and if you are a Phantom of the Opera fan--this is the opera house it is based on. There are water channels below (they won't let you go down there, trust me I tried) but National Geographic did do a really cool special on it if you ever want to see what it looks like. The opera house is definitely worth the visit!

“Nice place to visit”

It has one of the biggest constructions of the neoclassical empire. The Opera building is very pretty, just be careful because they have very short visit hours.

“Impressive architecture”

We didn't get in. However if you're in the area, you should definitively pass there. The building is very beautiful and when we were there some musicians were animating the place. Really nice !

“Stunning tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

Do NOT miss the guided tour.
I took the English one and proved to be very informative; it was key to understand the building, so it could be more than just a luxurious theatre visited by rich people. The very knowledgeable guide - a bit difficult to understand at first but was very willing to answer any sort of questions - explained artworks, lifestyle of the time and provided interesting historical facts in the course of 90 minutes. Once the tour is over, you are given the chance to revisit the building and take as many pictures as you like.
A fun fact is the Phantom of the Opera Box; the guide showed us the door to Box 5 (which has a little sign in reference to the Phantom) and even explained the plot in detail, which was unexpected and definetely a nice surprise.
Don't forget to visit the Gift Shop; it may be pricey but you can find something for everyone.

“A lesser-known attraction”

The atmosphere is great, to look around the very famous opera is very interesting. Would like to now actually go and see an opera there!
