My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in May 2013 in this unique small hotel in a lovely neighbourhood of Paris. Our room, over looking the rear garden, was clean, cosy as was the ensuite bathroom. We enjoyed a simple breakfast of coffee, croissants and baguettes in the garden each morning served by our lovely, warm and friendly host Maggie. The Montmartre neighbourhood itself is lovely and well worth exploring.

We were unable to book rooms in the hotel but were offered a two room first floor apartment in the building next door, also owned by the hotel (in fact they may own the whole building with studios on the top floor). We were not disappointed!.

The apartment has two bedrooms, one en-suite (no loo) and a bathroom (with 3/4 bath and hand shower) plus a lounge with 4 chairs and a coffee table all in furnished in an old fashioned French style with cloth wall coverings (plus some doors & ceilings!) and antique style furniture, all very consistent with the main hotel. There is also a small kitchenette (inc fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine). There is no TV but there is wi-fi (access code on the coffee table).

There was very little traffic noise and although there were no great views from these rooms (the best is from the rear bedroom over the rooftops to the east) the hotel is a matter of 400m from the Sacre Coeur and the same distance from local shops in the opposite direction. Handy for supplies if you want to breakfast in the apartment as the hotel does not provide breakfasts away from the hotel..

Maggie was a lovely host, gave us a very warm welcome and was very chatty in a mix of French and passable English. She knows everything worth knowing about Paris and how to make guests feel very welcome. she was happy to look after our luggage on our last day.

You will enjoy!

If you are planning a trip to Paris, you cannot stay anywhere else but here - there's no place like it. I cannot say enough about Maggie and her daughter Sophie, who make you feel as though you're part of the family. They are so helpful and they're knowledge of Paris & the Metro system is second to none. We could come back to Paris just to stay with this beautiful family again! The rooms were clean, the bed was comfy and the french breakfast provided every morning was basic, but more than enough to keep you going for a few hours. Very close to 3 metro stops, just metres from the cobblestone streets of Montmartre & the Sacre Couer and a short walk to the Moulin Rouge. And with a killer view from the room to top it off. Thanks Maggie & Sophie, we'll definately be back!!

We have just come back from a weekend staying at Hotel Ermitage - absolutely loved it and will definitely be returning. The lady, her husband and daughter who run this family owned hotel were lovely and provided us with advice and directions on attractions/getting about Paris - it made such a nice change staying somewhere with warmth and friendliness rather than a cold, corporate chain. Each morning we were brought breakfast to our room which also saved a lot in time/money - we ate fresh croissants and baguettes and orange juice which filled us up until lunchtime. The location was also fab - right next to the Sacre Couer and close to the metro which meant we could get about easily. Montmartre is also full of quaint bakeries and restaurants - a lovely, lively little place.
