We stayed here in the last week of March 2013 and had a brilliant stay.
Our room was fantastic, the location (a few minutes from the Sacre Coeur and the nearest Metro) was ideal. Breakfast was served in our room each morning (following a phonecall to Madame). The room was spotless on our return each day and the bathroom, althougth small, was ideal. The decor and fittings were individual which we loved. Maggie & Sophie were perfect hosts.
There are so many great places to eat and drink nearby in Montmarte, and lots to see and do. We loved the Musee de Monemarte, the Sacre Coeur (we sat and listened to Mass one evening - magical), Place de Abbess and the Rue Epic.
If you are looking for a unique place to stay and do not mind a short stroll to the Metro to get to central Paris then this is the place for you.
Just be aware that this area is quite hilly with many steps.
Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed here 23 years ago.,.our first time in Paris and the owners were incredibly kind and helpful, we returned again and it felt like home. A little gem of a home away from home. Whoever says the French are not polite just have never been to France...,this hotel exemplifies how wonderful the French people are.

We booked the Ermitage Hotel by phone which was easy. The owner was very friendly and spoke excellent English.
We arrived by car and had booked a parking for 20€/day which was ok as we compared the price with other parking possibilities which were few. However as the hotel is located in the north of Paris the motorway from Belgium actually ends just shortly before and I was happy that there was no need to drive through the whole city
The Ermitage is a hotel where the owner lives with her familiy too. It is a beautiful house and it is quite old. The interieur is well maintained though not what would be described as fashionable.
We had the room in the "basement" which was not the basement because the house is situated at the steep hill of Sacre Coeur and we had acces to the terrace and the garden.
The doubleroom was extremly clean, with flower-wallpaper which I would not have for my home but which fitted perfectly to this house. Bathroom had a swing-door and was renovated, there was work going on in the other rooms as well.
No TV, big closet, breakfast is ordered by phone and is brought to your room. Wlan is available.
My mother had the room in the 2nd floor which had fantastic view over the city.
The hotel is located in Montmartre, you can walk easily through the quarter if you don't mind steep street and stairs. For city center you have to take the metro which is a footwalk of 5-10 min.
We enjoyed our stay

I travelled to Paris with my husband, my friend (who never travels anywhere so she had to get a passport) and her husband. It was a bit scary, having been the one to plan the trip but from the moment we walked into the hotel, the trip was a success.
The hotel is full of character and charming detail. Madame was delightful and could not have been more helpful. Everything was clean and fresh. Breakfast was typically french croissant, fresh bread and jam- the only quibble I had was, the coffee could have been hotter. on our last morning we left at 6am and Madame got up to see us off having provided breakfast prior to the usual time.
I will certainly stay here again.
A few words about the area - Monmartre is a tourist spot with all of the accompanying throngs but this hotel is quiet and only a couple of streets away from amazing sights. Walk round the Sacre Coure at night and see the cry including the Eiffel Tower lit up. I loved it!

I have never been to Paris before and wanted a more authentic experience away from other tourists but still convenient to get to the sights.
My husband and I stayed there for 3 night from Dec. 17th to the 20th and were so happy with it!
The room we had was completely covered in floral fabric, even the door! I Loved it! You will probably not stay in a room like that again so when in Paris... go for it!

The bathroom was of a smaller than average American size, but quite generous for a European setting. Everything in the bathroom was clean and tidy - no issue at all.

The hostess/owner is the sweetest woman ever and always stopped us as we were going out to ask what our plans were and to offer helpful tips and travel advice.

The hotel is located 2 quick blocks from a metro station, hop on that and it'll take you to the main sites. There is a restaurant down the street from the hotel au relais I believe it was called- they had good food and reasonable prices, go there!

Breakfast at the hotel was baguettes and croissants with various marmelade spreads. Tea, milk, coffee to drink. We were completely fine with the offering, but you could always walk a block down to the grocery store and pick up something else.

The hotel is located right beneath the Sacre Coeur Cathedral so we had direct access to one of the top tourist destinations. (When you go to the Eiffel Tower you can see the Cathedral from the view as it is on a distinctive hill and you will know exactly where your hotel is!!)

My husband and I would definitely go back to this hotel again!!!

I have been coming to this place for over 15 years and it has always delivered the same quality experience. We have met Madame many times and Monsieur even once drove my husband to hospital when he put his back out! It is basically a series of cosy rooms in a town house filled with mixed antique furniture and cloth wallpaper. The bathrooms are tiny and functional. Breakfast is breads and coffee brought to your room.

We very rarely stay anywhere else, and in short it is wonderful for:

- walking scenic hilly streets around Sacre Coeur and Montmarte
- enjoying charming little local hillside restaurants
- feeling a part of Paris
- arriving from Gare du Nord then taking metro about 4 stops to Lamarck
- practising your french
- getting away from downtown Paris
- character
- people who like to dinner and a digestif or two at the local bar then relaxing in bed with a book or a glass of wine bought from a local corner shop.

Other thoughts:

- Have never stayed there in winter so not sure if streets and steps in neighbourhood are icy or not.

Bad for people who like:

- organised tours
- hairdryers, trouser press, televisions, mini bars and other features of a corporate hotel.
- people who can not walk up and down hills
- people who can not use metro independently
- young people looking for a clubbing and partying experience
- cloying and effusive American-style service

I have stayed there from mid-90's and was there last in August 2009 but can not find way to put this date in.

Room Tip: The ones on the right on higher floors have always been good for us. Have not stayed on other side s...

An exceptionally beautiful boutique hotel in the Montmarte area. Appropriately a work of art in this art dominated area. Barely a 5 minute walk to Sacre Coeur. As soon as you walk in you will get a warm reception by the owner Maggie. We had been assigned a beautiful and spacious room next to the garden. It was decorated tastefully and in the traditional Parisian style. The attached bathoom was surprisingly large and modern. Maggie served us breakfast in the room consisting of coffee, croissants and baguette. They made us feel so welcome. Wish we had time to stay longer in this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: Request for the room with the Garden, its worth it.
