We have been staying here for more than a decade because of its nice facilities, great location, and wonderful staff.
Rooms are comfortable and well furnished. The only negatives would be a bit too much noise from other rooms (from plumbing and floors above), and less than great mattresses (something we find almost everywhere in France.)
Breakfasts are saved in a delightful basement room with fresh pastries and juices, cereals, and eggs and more, on request. A small den off the lobby has a self-serve bar. There are a number of good restaurants within five minutes walk, including top-rated Dominique Bouchet, the exciting new Chrom 'Exquis, and numerous bars, cafes, and bistros. Another plus is a UPS shipping store just across the street, and a taxi stand just 100 meters away.
The staff more than makes up for this, most having been here for a long time. They are friendly, accommodating, and more than eager to help out with any request. Compared with the impersonal service at many other Paris hotels, staying here is like staying with friends.
Pricing is modest by Paris standards, especially given the location near the Madeleine, St. Augustin, and just a stroll from the Champs.
We've stayed in other places from time to time, mostly when the Lavoisier is full, and always return here. It's like coming home.

It was not any easy trip for me: conference busy day and the cold that I could not get ridd off, greasy weather outside the window. In such circumstance a good, quiet, comfortable hotel with efficient and polite staff can really make you feel better. I could catch up and relax in a sympa surrounding. Evene better, the localisation was simply magnificent. Metro / underground cross the street, gare St. Lazare railway station 10-minute walk, 15-minute-walk to Roissy bus taking you to the airport, Monopris round the cornere etc. For church goers on Sunday, just on the other side of the St. Augustin Square, all big magazines Printemps, Lafayette 15 minutes on foot, Boulevard Haussmann next stree, all these things right in the center of Paris and no noise...Good wooden floor instead of panels as it became fashion recently.

Room Tip: It is always good to say if you are travelling on business or leisure.

Just spent a quick weeked here and all the reviews are pretty much correct. Its a small boutique hotel, about 1 block form the metro. The room is perfect. A little on the small smide but then again this s Paris. Im not sure if there was room service, but there are cafes in the area along with a market on the block over. There is a small lounge with alchol there and you help yourself, just let the desk know what you had and they bill you at checkout. One thing that I have read is about the amazing breakfest? Not sure where its coming from? They do have a breakfest but its very basic. Breads, cereal etc... We tried it one morning and the others just grabbed something on the go, your in Paris, what else would you do. The hotel had many areas where it appeard there were holes in the walls and they were in the process of fixing (our room included). Might be something they want to get on and paint, doesnt look too good. Overall, if you are looking for an economical nic small hotel, le lavoisier is good for you.

Room Tip: Its on a busy road, probably higher floors would be better

We came across this hotel by chance as we left it very late to book. We have never stayed in this area of Paris before and found it to be very good for us. The room was very clean lots of room a nice outlook and the bed was fantastic to sleep in. The staff at reception were good they recommended a fantastic restaurant down the road (non tourist) organized a show and taxi to the airport. Hotel is close to the metro shops and restaurants but still in a quiet area. We will be staying there again

I stayed here for three nights in September. The location was great, just a few steps from the Metro and there is a Monoprix just around the corner for all of the things that you forgot to pack (in my case, quite a few things...).

The staff were very helpful and mainly spoke very good English.

The reception and breakfast areas are clean and well decorated. My room was freshly decorated and quite compact but clean and had a nice view. The bed was comfortable, and there was ample storage. I feel that I would have struggled to work in this room unless I sat on the bed. There was a small desk area but it was too shallow for my needs. The wi-fi was fast and reliable, though there was an additional charge.

The bathroom and separate toilet were clean and well appointed, and spacious enough to not feel cramped.

I only ate breakfast at the hotel once, I found it be quite poor in comparison to other hotels so I ate out for the remainder of my stay.

Overall, it is a nice hotel, in a nice area with great transport links. I would stay here again, but only if I could secure a room at a discounted rate (as I did this time).

Briefly: Beautiful accommodations, fabulous staff, great location!!! Long-windedly: I traveled to Paris for the first time with two girlfriends (also their first time) at the end of August 2012. We chose this hotel based on photos from its website and we were not disappointed!! Prior to arrival, Le Lavoisier staff were very prompt and courteous in assisting me via email with logistical questions... We stayed only two nights and this hotel was PERFECT for a condensed Parisian adventure - quiet location (perhaps based on going in August), walking distance to the hot spots we wanted to visit, cute and comfy accommodations with a spacious room for three adults (we could find no other small hotels that could accommodate the three of us in one room). The staff were incredibly kind, fun, and helpful, particularly the lovely woman with whom we checked in upon arrival (whose name we sadly did not get) who was so hospitable and friendly when we arrived exhausted at 6am from our flight and let us skip the checking-in formalities so we could sleep first! (And letting us check in hours ahead of check-in time was awesome)... She was also amazing with her suggestions of which way we should walk to begin our adventure once we woke up. All in all, our stay was incredible and we will definitely return to Hotel le Lavoisier!

Room Tip: Room 101 accommodates three adults quite comfortably!

This cute French town house hotel is tucked away about 10-15 minutes walk from Place de la Concorde near the St Augustin and Gare de Lazare Metro stations. We had a week-long stay earlier this month in the most basic type of room and found it a good base from which to explore Paris. The clientele are mostly rich Americans as they get a deal from the embassy. The hotel derverves its four star rating, but don't expect it to be like an American business chain hotel: there's no mini-bar fridge in the room, no free bathrobes or slippers and the in-room TV was a bit small. Also, you are in France: there is no in-room kettle, no carpet (wood floors in the junior suite), and a cooked breakfast is extra... For every little disappointment, though, the place more than made up for it in other ways:

First the good side:

- Great location, not so far on foot from places like the Gallerie Layafette, Rue de Rivoli and Place de la Corcorde.

- Near to St Augustin Metro stop. Remember to bring a passport photo and get a Paris navi-card (like an oyster card) for one week's unlimited cheap Metro travel around the city centre.

- Wonderfully quiet: it's a small hotel, tucked down a side road. You can barely hear the other guests.

- Generally superb continental breakfast. If you phone down they bring it up to your room before 10.30am at no extra charge. We'd like to praise the catering staff too, especially Nisha, whose English was excellent and who lived to please. In our opinion he provided five star service.

- Nice quiet lobby area.

- No problems with the plumbing or hot water.

- Friendly staff.

- Handy local shops and restaurants including Monoprix and Planet Sushi.

Now the less good side:

- Slight security issue: there are no in-room safes here, so you have to keep asking the desk staff to store valuables. One joshed with me that I could always keep my iPad in my room. Two days later we returned from a day out to find our room's door ajar. Nothing had been stolen, and it was suggested that the maid had not pulled the door locked properly. In our opinion the hotel needs to update its locks. Another issue here is that each room only has one key, so if there are two of you doing different things in the day time, you'll need to keep leaving your (one) key at reception.

- Unfortunately the view from our window was of a pretty run down and gloomy back courtyard. C'est la vie!

- No free wifi in the room (though you can connect to it in the lobby).

- A few things in the nature of the place: corner-shaped rooms, small bath, occasional lack of supplies (one day they ran out of French stick bread and, though they made this up the next day, it does seem like a basic in Paris!) Also, don't arrive late and expect to change rooms if you are not happy - there are too few rooms here to give the choice.

A final tip: we were told that guests are not advised to stroll the Champs-Elyssee at night as it can be unsafe. Of course that advice applies where ever you stay, not just at this hotel.

... All in all, we had a lovely time at this quiet French town house hotel. They are a cosy operation and dropped the ball a couple of times, but on balance we would definitely stay here again. The niceties far outweigh any of the problems. What better place for a wonderful breakfast brought to your Paris room?

Room Tip: Arrive in the afternoon. Ask for a high floor. My guess is that even the front of the hotel is prett...
