“Grand old hotel”
Reviewed November 1, 2011

My wife and I stayed here for our twentieth wedding annivesary. On arrival at the reception we were treated like celebrities. Our cases were whisked away and delivered and waiting for us on our arrival with the bell boy who carried the cases in and did the usual 'proper 5 star' room tour.
After thirty minutes a bottle of champers/chocs were delivered from the management for our anniversary. Very impressed.
The room directly faced the Louvre museum and the view was not lost on us. The rooms amenities were standard for a five star with a decent size for Paris and the usual trimmings, bath robes slippers, pillow choccy's, up market bathroom goodies and '60 channels and nothing on' (the TV ). But we were not there to watch TV so this was of no consequence.
We did eat at the 'Brasserie' restaurant one evening but was a bit underwhelmed as we were expecting something that suited the hotels fire star status, think the restaurant let the side down somewhat, but believe this has since had a revamp and change of restaurant management.
All staff are very accomadating and warm and so very helpful, the concierge is a diamond!
I am loathe to leave a negative comment about this grand old lady as we had such a wonderful stay but it would have been fair to say at that time (August 2009) the place was in need of some TLC to its furnishings and fittings. We 'popped in to the bar on our last trip to Paris and it seemed the place had indeed had a sping clean. Great venue for cost and full of history and old world charm. Would deffinetly stay there again.

Room Tip: The concierge is your lifeline to beautiful Paris.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your comments on Tripadvisor.
I was very pleased to learn that you have enjoyed your stay with us, especially on such a special occasion.
However, we have taken good note of your remarks concerning the furnishings and fittings. Be sure that our painter-decorator works everyday to make our hotel more welcoming.
Please rest assured that the comfort and the satisfaction of our guests are our first preoccupations.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon at the Hôtel du Louvre.
Yours sincerely,
Pierre Fauret

My husband and I are in our late 60's and decided to try Paris on our own for 6 days. The Hotel Du Louvre, with its friendly and helpful staff and proximity to major attractions and a metro stop, more than met our expectations. The deluxe room was spacious with plenty of closet and storage space, and a working safe. The buffet breakfast was very good with a large selection. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. Even though our room looked out on a busy street and a metro station entrance, we were not bothered by any noise. Our main suggestion for improvement would be better lighting in our room, especially near the closet, but in all other respects it was a wonderful stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Louvre as part of a Tauck Tour in mid September. The hotel made our stay in Paris even more memorable. We are world travelers and I can honestly say that the concierge was the finest service we have ever received. We encountered a problem with an establishment that the concierge helped us book. When we reported this to the concierge, they called the establishment after the incident and argued with them for nearly 30 minutes explaining our complaint, and finally resolved it to our satisfaction, something we on our own could never have accomplished. They obtained tickets for us, gave us detailed directions, allowed us to use their own printer, and were up to our room in less than 2 minutes anytime they delivered to us tickets or written confirmations. They spoke english proficiently. The hotels location is perfect and I have but one suggestion for them: Absolutely don't change a thing. Thank you....again.

This hotel isn't cheap at all! I would say it's perfect if it was a little bit cheaper! But I know Paris is expensive!! At least they honor their $$$ - the room was amazing! two showers and a tub + robes and sleepers and a separate "guest room" attached to our bedroom perfect customer service and location!! So worth the money! We didn't have breakfast there so I don't know about their food, anyways all the food I had in Paris (this was my second time there) was expensive and bad so it didn't matter much. If we had an extra 260 bucks per night we'd stay more! Loved it!!

P.S. we stayed there July 2010 (TripAdvisor won't let me go that far in this review)

Located in center district of Paris. All the main monuments are at short distance. Has simple but comfortable rooms. The Service in the Restaurant is efficient. Staff is friendly. The architecture is very historical and therefore is recommended if you have some extra money to spent on accommodation.

Room Tip: All sides are good..

We decided on this hotel based on the location and the reviews. We found everyone that we had contact with front desk, concierge, porter, housekeeping, breakfast servers and servers at The Defender (lobby bar) were all professional, helpful and made us feel welcomed. I think if you go to any country where the primary language is not your own, it does make a difference to attempt to learn about 10-20 phrases. We found that most people seemed to appreciate that we had respect for their country and made an effort to communicate. It was very apparent that we are Americans and so after a brief greeting in French everyone would then speak to us in English.

Room Tip: I'm a light sleeper and we were on the 5th floor. I slept fine with the balcony door closed and...
