We walked from the Pigalle area up to Montmatre and really enjoyed it. The narrow streets, bars and small shops are all interesting. There are lots of restaurants in the square, surrounded by artists offering their wares. It is a lovely way to spend a morning strolling about.

We took the Metro (Anvers stop) to the Montmartre area and 'lifted' up the hill and up the huge staircase to the Sacre Coeur Basilica. We used Metro ticket and took a stairs lift ride on same ticket. You can do it if you are in 1,5 hrs. limit and we got there on the top for 1,70 Euro. A way to travel to save money and your energy during hot summer day! We did our Paris gifts shopping there; reasonable prices and people home love it all. It distance from the church the streets are full of artists who are eager to draw caricature portraits of visitors for a fee, to start negotiation.... The artsy feel of the area felt quite authentic. We walked the narrow cobblestone streets and viewed the classic French architecture. This area is different from Latin Quarters, very dynamic and fun....I will be back soon!

From Montmarte is located on the beautiful basilica, the Sacre-Coeur. Walk between among small shop. The atmosphere is amazing. bottom of the stairs is a beautiful carousel. The 234 steps of the Basilica of grass and a lot of people a lot of rest, read, play music talk. Lots of young people. The terrace has beautiful photographs can be taken. The building behind the painters square. I understand why he lived in Dali, Picasso ...
The main road from the famous Moulin Rouge and all kinds of Erotica erotica shop and museum. There are many small cafes to the more intimate neighborhoods. (Pigalle)

It was a nice visit and from reading other reviews we are happy to have visited in the morning as we understand night time has the potential to get a bit dicey.
