We didn't know what to expect and headed there after a visit to Sacre Coeur. It was wonderful, first we walked a gauntlet of artists wanting to draw us, some were good, some not so much. We found an artist who's style we liked, however he was drawing another couple so we wandered further. Around the corner were 30-40 artists painting primarily land & city scapes, but all were very talented. We returned to our original artist in time to be drawn iin a unique and impessive style, and very suitable for framing! A great way to spend an afternoon!

The town was amazing - Montmarte is full of uphill cobbled streets and quirky shops. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes due to all the uphill walking - especially when climbing the steps to the Sacre-Coeur - there is a lift but the stairs are fine. There's gardens to relax at as well as taking the view in from the Sacre-Coeur itself which is brilliant!

If you avoid the tourist traps near the Church at the top of the hill, it is the best! Loved just strolling around and musing over this beautiful area.

People say this is a must see, but it was super crowded, dirty, and seemed to be full of hustlers and pickpockets. I would avoid it like the plague. It was supposed to be full of bohemian artists. I only saw one old lady paiting in a cafe.

Loved Montmartre. SO much character, art, vibrancy, lovely cafes with friendly waiters / waitresses. After all the exploring, we had a lovely lunch, plenty of wine and was just happy to sit back and people watch in this gorgeous little gem of a place.
