“Victim of own success”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

Sacre Couer and hilltop location with views over Paris make this a must do. It`s also near Moulin Rouge. However, even in December the crowds were off putting, and the `looky looky` street vendors a pest. There is a square where the artists display and paint, but none of it is really authentic any more.

“Magical place with great views”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

Magical place you will enjoy the view and if you are in Christmas time do not miss it :)
Some hints to go there be sure you reach "Abbesses" Metro station and its so easy from there if you ask about Montmatre and to prepare your self you will climb high stairs so its not that quick easy visit unless you are athletic or used to stairs :)

We were there only five years ago...but what happened? Same time of year but now so crowded with tourists, and people bugging you to buy stuff that it felt entirely 'over-touristed'. Only five years ago, at the same time, I could take a photo of my spouse on the street...now impossible with the crowds. Only five years ago were real shops and galleries but now replaced by t-shirt and souvenir shops. UGH.

The only thing resembling 'real Montmartre' are the signs on the buildings that are above the touristy restaurants and trinket shops.

“Montmartre - Art District”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

After being in Piazza Navona in Rome, we were disappointed in this art district but the food was the best price on our whole 2 week trip. Paintings didn't impress us much but it's worth walking around if you have lots of time on your hands

“A great view of Paris”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

it's a must see place when in Paris! the view is nice and you can take a short break to enjoy on the steps overlooking the city. Just walk along the narrow streets arond the cathedral.
