Going to 'la butte' is great, but make sure you also go beyond the basilique du Sacré-Coeur and the Place du Tertre. Montmartre starts after those 2 attractions. Push further to the Musée de Montmartre, the Lapin Agile, the only vineyard of Paris, the Moulin de la Galette, la Maison Rose, the staircases next to the funiculaire and just lose yourself in the small streets. You can almost smell the lilacs ;-)

I adore the whole bohemian feeling of this place!!! Steeped in history!!! With places such as the Sacre Coeur Basilica and the Moulin Rouge!!! This bustling place is overflowing with gorgeous little shops (some are a little racy) the people are friendly for the most part though I think you'd be trampled in the pursuit of a bargain!!! Be careful at night here as the pickpockets are rife (hold on tight to your bag/purse/wallet) though on the whole this is a jovial place that is rich with culture and is weirdly sophisticated!!!

Such a nice area of Paris many little streets that sell millions of different things. At the top of Montmartre is the Sacre Coeur, a beautiful church which has some of the best views in Paris as it is the highest point. Well worth a visit.

Watch out for the street vendors, they are very persistent and some of they may even grab you ( this happened to me). You just have to be really firm with them and tell them no and keep walking, just dont stop.

Montmartre is a great place, the highest point in Paris . It's quite different from the rest of Paris. Winding streets , old small buildings, plenty of small shops and bakeries galore. A lot of small restaurants and of course famous cabaret le Moulin Rouge are located there too. Montmartre is supposed to be the neighborhood of artists. You can spend several hours here just walking around and watching the Artists fill the Place du Tertre. The Sacré Coeur Church is very impressive. There are an awful lot of steps up from it , but it is worth ! There is a fantastic view of Paris.
Montmartre is everything I imagined Paris to be. I will go back there again if I have opportunity.

When visiting Paris I definately recommend this area. The area is lively and nice. You can take the lift up to Sacre Cour the beautiful huge white church. From there you see the immense Paris. Around the area there is very much small bistros and selling of art and handicrafts. They also have some very cliseish "pariensiens" around in costumes. But the actual view and the athmosphere is nice.
