Owner description: Located in the 18th Arrondissement, this elevated rural neighborhood on the outskirts of the city has a collection of upscale shops and cafés and still exudes hints of old village charm.

Montmartre is a great place to go to for a fantastic view of Paris, you can either walk up lots of steps to reach the top or you can opt for a tram which traverses the hill diagonally, if you want to get to the top you will have to walk up some stairs so those of you who struggle with steps may have trouble as I could not see another way to access the top.

Beware there are lot of people trying to sell you things (i.e caricatures etc) and peddle to you and you have to be a bit stern to get rid of them unless you want to buy something you don't need or want but generally this place is quite safe.

There are several café's and an artists market which is very beautiful and then there's the view which is stunning. We took a picnic up with us and ate it on the steps overlooking the whole of Paris.

This is a free (except the tram) and is a great place to see if you are visiting Paris, just beware of the pedlars and you have a great time like we did.

Montmartre is the oldest village in Paris and is just lovely! Lots of winding streets, lots of stairs, lovely cafes and even though there are lots of gift shops and stalls it doesn't seem over-touristy.

Defintely take the "petit train de Montmartre" and the "funiculaire" just keep an eye on your bag in the crowded areas. Gorgeous views of Paris from the "Sacre Coeur" and it's free!

Montmatre is definitely worth walking around as it's quite different from the rest of Paris. Really enjoyed the cute little cafes however watch out for pick pocketers (especially the gypsy kids) as they do come up to your table and distract you and take your stuff!

France is a very unfriendly country but, Montmatre is fantastic. Nice coffee shops, bistros, restaurants and plenty sightseeing. Easy and fantastic metro and rail system. Fresh( pain) baguette all over the place. The fantastic fruit and veg available on every corner. I would go back there again given the opportunity.

You can either walk the streets to the top to see the amazing view of Paris or cheat by going up in the funicular- great fun for kids. Sacre Coeur is a beautiful catholic church and a worthy place to light a candle for a loved one. There are plenty of cafes and restuarants and Artists fill the Place du Tertre. Lovely but a bit over run with tourist souveniers.
