“Well worth the visit for the views but a bit trippery”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

You can either walk the streets to the top to see the amazing view of Paris or cheat by going up in the funicular- great fun for kids. Sacre Coeur is a beautiful catholic church and a worthy place to light a candle for a loved one. There are plenty of cafes and restuarants and Artists fill the Place du Tertre. Lovely but a bit over run with tourist souveniers.

“a place worth visiting.”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Montmartre is a place to be visited. You have to get the feeling of the place by walking through the alleys of this place and go up and down the hill, see the small vineyard , it is really a Parisian village. The Sacré Coeur Church is very impressive also and if you have time, it is worth going to mass at 10pm. Do not stay too long on the Place du Tertre which can be extremely disappointing as it is filled with too many tourists. Instead, walk the streets of the "village" as I suggested above.

“Fabulous!!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

From Sacre Coeur to the tiny winding streets loaded with cafes and restaurants and painters- this part of Paris is just fab. If you love watching painters paint, or buying freshly painted art, or enjoying a delicious meal with a great view, go here. You cannot go wrong. The streets are just adorable. Must-see while in Paris.

“Great part of Paris”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

If you arrive at Abesses metro station, be warned! There are an awful lot of steps up from it! But the trek is worth it! I love the hustle and bustle of the area and the fact that Sacre Coeur is often just visible. Walking up the steps to Sacre Coeur is busy and monotonous, but going up via the side streets is much more interesting as there are lots of shops to look at and detours to make, such as to see the vineyard and the au Lapin Agile nightclub. The Place du Tertre, although crowded is always fascinating, I love looking at the artists and their work.

“One of the nicest part of Paris”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

It may have something of the tourist trap, but Montmartre somehow managed to retain its typical Parisian atmosphere. Many painters had their studios there (some of them now part of the Musée de Montmartre), and of course famous cabarets such as le Moulin Rouge and le Chat Noir were located there too. Plenty of nice restaurants and small shops to enjoy.
