I thought this was just a structure that was a converted church, but downstairs is an amazing crypt of some very famous people. Voltaire, Marie Curie, Victor Hugo And others. It was a big surprise. Definitely worth visiting.

The Pantheon has lead a double life both as a church and a place to honor French notables upon death. Information panels in some locations give you information in a variety of languages including English. Upstairs the painted panels show Joan of Arc, the crowning of Charlemagne, st Genevieve , who is the patron saint of Paris and French Kings. Going to the top are spectacular views of Paris which would make super photos. Heading to the crypt you get to see the toms of a host of French luminaries, Victor Hugo, Voltaire, Pierre and Marie Curie, Rousseau, and Louis Braille to name a few. Then lastly there is Focults famous pendulum which is Mesmerizing to say the least. A wonderful way to spend two hours learning who and what the French history values.
We’ve lived in Paris for 5 months and been to various rooftop bars and monuments and the dome tour was the best view we’ve had! It’s actually not that scary as well and I’m a little afraid of heights. It felt very safe. A little hint- as you wait in line, use your phone to book online tickets. We skipped the queue and went on in. Or book them in advance (haha). We had to wait in a separate line for the dome tickets. The crypt is free. This museum was really an unexpected treat. We really only went as we watched a you tube video that spoke of the top 10 places to go and in our 5 months we had been to all of them except the Pantheon, so we had to go! It really has an interesting history and is very patriotic and beautiful. So many special things about this gorgeous place. What a great find.
Neat to go inside + visit the graves of famous French people in history academics etc! The Pendulum is famous! In the heart of the famous buzzy area Latin Quarter (Student Quarter). I would go inside once but as it cost money it's not really something that needs to be revisited once you've seen it. Very cool though + historic + the area is fun to hang out in with students & some student-priced places to eat + take out areas!
The Pantheon and surrounding area was absolutely breathtaking! Seeing it from the outside was amazing and the inside was unreal. It really took you back to the Greek and Roman era and the crypt has tombs from philosophers and writers who were very important throughout history. Great experience
The Pantheon wasn't on my "must do" list for this trip, but when we stumbled upon it after many wrong turns, it did not disappoint. I think I said wow for the entire hour that we wandered through here! The neighborhood is worth checking out, surrounded by the university and library. The mausoleum holds some pretty rememorabe people in history.
