This is by far the most lovely park in Paris, but not well known because it is in a residential area in the north-east of the city. What is amazing is that all it's rolling hills and various trees flower and bushes, including the lake, are completely man made! Less then 200 years ago this was a rock quarry! it's a great place to unwind walking around the lake and perfect for an early morning jog.

What do you do in Paris during a hot (35°C) July day? You go to a park searching for some quite and shade! Paris offer various places that fit the bill, but the "Parc des Buttes Chaumont" proved to be a particularly nice surprise.
It is not difficult to reach by Metro and, while not enormous, it is big enough that you can easily find a quiet spot in the shade where to rest, and interesting enough to make it worth walking around it.
The bad news is that right now there are quite a lot of works going on. So a lot of blocked paths. The good side is that very soon these works will be finished and the park completely renovated.

This is a really beautiful park in Paris! Although this isn´t in the centre of Paris, the trip is worth it! It´s accessible by metro, station Buttes Chaumont!

This isn´t a typical park, like Luxembourg or Tuilleries, which are formal gardens.
This park is on a hill, with a temple at the top, where you can have a great view of the Sacre Coeur!

Has a pretty waterfall inside the park!

Do like the locals, and go to the supermarket and buy your dinner and go to this park and eat it,with a beautiful sunset! At this time the park is full of families doing this! Take note that the park close at 22h00.

I´ve been there between 20h and 22h00 and I felt safe, whit a lot of a families!

This is a park, where families and locals go to, it tourist free (almost)!

I really liked the man made bluffs and moat in this park. A lot is up hill, but even if you aren't in that great of shape, its do-able. Its a great park for jogging/running. It can get windy though, so I didn't stay long.
