What an amazing place -- multiple buildings and exhibitions, all fascinating. Prepare to spend several hours -- wear good shoes! My third time to Paris, and my 16 year old son asked to go because he just completed AP European History -- lucky for our whole family.

None of my tourist guides or travel planner listed France's most popular king's monument as one of the top places to visit in Paris.

Out of curiosity, I googled and found out his monument is actually in the heart of Paris and it is grand monument. I knew he died in St. Helena but did not know Napoleons remains were exhumed and brought back to Paris and a grand monument constructed for one of France's greatest heroes. If you are history buff and have some understanding of Napoleon and what he accomplished in early 1800's you should visit this monument in the heart of Paris. It is a beautiful structure similar to St. Paul's Cathedral in London but smaller in size but the architecture and paintings inside are grand.

As the saying goes, history is written by the winners/conquerors and the Brit's crapped all over what Napoleon conquered and accomplished. And what this great man accomplished conquering most of Europe never gets its due for at least his military genius.

Nine euro ticket to get in, and there is not a long line. It takes you 1-2 hours to see the entire thing.

My boys loved this museum. They have many exhibits for the two wars. Napoleons tomb is quite impressive as well. The tower ceiling is hand painted and beautiful.

The cafe inside was also very good. The food was hot and delicious. You can get a beer or wine here as well.

For anyone with an interest in military history and/or the history of France (and Europe, come to that), this is a wonderful museum. There is so much to see that it may even require more than one visit. The museum location itself is something to see, and so close to so many other landmarks. The are various different wings and rooms cover different periods of history, with some extraordinary displays. Cannot recommend highly enough.
