Good value and a pleasant stay
location is quite central and when last I stayed I could find no
fault with the cleanliness of the place although rather eclectic in choice
of furnishings It is a great price for a decent room

Room Tip: a corner room has more windows

I have just only realised that I have stayed at this charming small Paris hotel on and off for 15 years. Like so many of the great reviews before this - its an ideal location with easy access to the Marais, the Metro, Place Des Vosges, even Notre Dame. The rooms and decor can be a bit shabby chic throughout...but they are clean and the unbeatable price (€96 per night for double) is well worth it.

Yes the night staff could be a bit more friendly, but they day staff are always pleasant. They are happy to hold your luggage after check-out for those of us who like late Sunday afternoon travel.

We continue to find the in-room signage of 'no picnics' amusing as they try to discourage eating in the rooms. But they are more than happy for you to eat in the dining area of the hotel...or you can nip around the corner to the lovely square at Rue Caron for dinner at the wonderful Le Marche.

You will love this hotel! A smart choice known by great travelers for over 15 years :)

We stayed here late October 2012. It's position in the Marais is superb for sight seeing. You can (and we did !) walk to almost all the premier sights, The hotel itself is more than adequate, but is quite old world, so if your expectations are Marriot/Trump its probably not for you.. The breakfast at €8 per person is a French petit dejeuner not a full English and didn't quite hit the spot for us.Our room was €96 per night and , considering the location in a very expensive capital city, was not over priced. However our stay was enhanced by the delightful receptioniste , Sophie, who went far beyond the call of duty to make our stay pleasant. So many thanks to her

Room Tip: The higher up you go the less street noise

My husband and I stayed here at the recommendation of a colleague. Positives: We were pleasantly surprised by the great location and felt it was a good starting point to explore the city. The room was what we expected, small but fine for our needs, and the lobby area was a good size for an inn. Right around the corner are a number of cute restaurants that are good for a casual meal or glass of wine. There are also fantastic Jewish cafes in the area.

Negatives: Our experience was somewhat dictated by who was at the front desk. One of the women (Lille?) was very friendly, spoke excellent English (even though I tried French each time), and had helpful suggestions. Some of the other gentlemen were pretty rude and could give no advice or recommendations whatsoever. We were mulling over a day trip and asked about Giverny, Brussels, Bruges, Lille, Fountainbleau, ect. and he was not willing to provide an opinion on any of them. We even asked where he would go if he were us and still, nothing. We asked the same question of another gentleman the next morning and still no opinion. I asked these questions in French first before trying English to no avail. This left us with an unpleasant feeling about the service. Also, the bed was the worst I've ever slept on in my life.

Note: As far as the heat mentioned by a few, we didn't have a problem closing our windows and using the fan. It was definitely hot but the fan made it manageable.

All in all, we felt like we got what we paid for in terms of quality. If you are easy going, the price is worth it.

The hotel is located in Le Marais. Close to Republique, Bastille and Hotel De Ville. Very close to Place Des Vosges and the Carnavalet museum. Close to the Jewish and Gay area. Lots of bars and restaurant. So area-wise, it can't get better.
The hotel looks recently renovated. Everything looks clean. Staff is very friendly. We had a room on the 4th floor, street side. The room was large enough with a double bed, tv, closet. The bathroom was small. I think about 2 m² stuffed with toilet, shower and washing table. Not a lot of room to turn around. But everything was cleaned everyday, and fresh towels were also received every day.
We only took breakfast in the hotel the last day. It's the classical breakfast you get in the brasserie around the corner. Hot drink, croissant, baguette with jam. Price for the breakfast can compete with the price in the close-by bars. But there are a few Starbucks and a Brioche dorée nearby.
Price of the hotel was 304€ for 3 nights and 2 breakfasts.

Would I stay here again? I guess yes. There are plenty of 2-star hotels in Paris, but this was the cleanest I stayed in, and the location is great.

As noted by many others, this hotel is in the heart of the Marais, one of the prime neighborhoods to visit in Paris. But when the weather is hot (we were there during an unseasonably warm period in September), the busy location can be a minus as well as a plus. Your choices come down to (a) close the windows and put up with the heat or (b) open the windows and put up with the noise. The noise is both from the restaurants and bars at night, and from the garbage trucks and street cleaners very early in the morning.

As to the accommodations, the room was very small, which is par for the course for an affordable hotel in Paris. That was OK, but we also found the room a bit dreary, with mediocre lighting and some plaster crumbling in the ceiling.

There are also some positives: The common areas are nice. The front desk personnel speak good English and are helpful. The bathroom was good sized. And, the hotel is still a good value in this expensive city, despite what we saw as shortcomings. We just believe you might get a better night's sleep in a hotel a few blocks away.

We stayed on the 5th floor of this cozy hotel, overlooking the street, and buildings opposite. The room was clean and although small was very comfortable, the lady that cleans the rooms was great, very helpful to us. despite our lack of french, in fact all the staff spoke english, as newcomers to Paris we couldn't have found a better area.
We walked to nearly all the tourist spots and enjoyed the unique shops, Art gallery's,pubs,restaurants,cafe/pastry spots, even tried the metro as it was one line
and so close by.
We had a great stay and will definitely choose this hotel again.
There was a few nuances like no WiFi working, some minor irritants, what the heck
it's Paris.

Room Tip: we stayed for five nights on the fifth floor just as the weather was turning cool. Heating worked we...
