We just returned from a 10-day trip to Paris, and we stayed at the L'Abbaye on the recommendation of a coworker. I stayed in a postage stamp sized room at a small boutique hotel in the Marais the last time I was in Paris, and I did not want to repeat this experience. Therefore, I booked a larger room at the L'Abbaye and we were not disappointed. The room was lovely and had more than adequate closet and drawer space. The safe in the closet was a plus, and the bathroom had all the amenities. The staff was helpful and professional, and they confirmed all our reservations for restaurants and transportation.
The main streets and boulevards of Saint Germain are noisy and bustling, so the location of the L'Abbaye on a quiet side street was a plus. The hotel is near two metro stops - St. Sulplice and Rennes - that are on different lines, so you have access to different parts of Paris. It is also near the Gare Montparnasse, where we took the railroad to Chartres. We had two delightful dinners at Le Table de Perigord (on the corner) and the Cafe Cassette on the corner of Rue Cassette and Rennes is a great place for drinks, a light meal, or dessert. When (not if) we return to Paris, we will definately return to the L'Abbaye.
