To walk into this store is to be inspired by all the famous chefs who have purchased their copper cookware here. Treat yourself to a nice piece of copper and tell Fronc I said "hi!" Then tell all your friends about your trip when you cook in it.

“A cooks paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2013

I go to Paris on holiday regularly. Without a doubt I buy something in Dehillerin's every time I go. Its an old fashioned shop that sells Quality Cookware.

It may seem a strange thing to say but this is a traditional place that has all those things you need but can never find in you local hardware store at home. Maybe because of the large turnover and local need to supply the thousands of restaurants in Paris.

There are some things to be warey of though. Don't go as a viewing tourist and waste the clerks time. This shop is a real working shop for cooks and chefs and some of the items are real 'bread and butter' earners and therefore serving real cooks and Chef's is in the interest of the shop.
You may be made to feel welcome, but don't get in the way.

Things to remember : To shop get a tally ticket and pencil from the counter first.
Seek out the items you want and take note of the number on the
shelf/item or Box.
Take your 'shopping list' to the price books at various places in the shop
and tally up. Try not to be suprised by the price of some things. I can tell
you now some of this stuff can be expensive especially cutlery and
copper items pans etc..
They are elsewhere so why expect quality items to be any different.

Just treat shopping in Dehillerins as a real cooks delightful experience...and remember you have to get it back home .

You can buy big stuff online and have it shipped.

Some of the older Dehillerin items are collectors pieces and regarded with Antique class status.

“Not for everyone”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

I have done a lot of shopping at E. Dehillerin over the last two years, and I have to say, it is not for everyone. The clerks can be helpful, but this is also the only place I have been to in Paris in three trips over the last three years where I was made fun of for being an American. The products are all outstanding, great copper pots, nice knives, you name it. Have an idea of what you want before you go in, the store is very small and can be cramped. The whole checkout procedure is quite funny where you give your items to one person in the green jacket who writes it up. They give you a ticket to give to a person to ring you up, then back three feet to where your stuff is for another guy to wrap and bag it up for you. It is an interesting experience.

“Research before you go!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

I love E. Dehillerin BUT you must understand the process... this is not a shiny Williams Sonoma or Sur la Table... it is an outlet for the gourmet kitchen! If you understand that you need the number from the product then go to the large books along the wall ... you will find the people there most helpful as you understand how the system works.. the price is in the book! Do not go just to look .. they will not be pleased...I google Dehillerin first and then cross reference price with W.S etc at home usually at Least half the price... Enjoy this bit of old Paris shopping... Oh and don't waste your time at the Tax place at the airport just drop the envelope in the mail!!!

“fun, but expensive!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2012

who doesn't want to buy cooking implements where julia childs did? it's fun and old school and the basement is full of pots big enough to bathe in. but bring your wallet, and make sure it's full. one cookie cutter was 9 euro. yup. and it was not a large one.
