“We loved it!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

I have just returned from Paris - spent 5 days with my family. As other reviewers have pointed out the main asset of the hotel is its location - the main hotspots are within walking distance, even for a big city like Paris. Galeries Lafayette, Printemps and the shopping area of Boulevard Haussmann is literally round the corner. Louvre, Tuileries, Orangerie museum, no more than 10 minutes walk, passing by Place Vendome and Place de la Concorde. The Elysee Palace is in the neighbourhood as well. The hotel is not cheap, but within the average of the area. Rooms are larger than average and can comfortably accomodate big families : we were 5 persons in two large connecting rooms - very unusual for Paris. If you come by car, the hotel offers special daily rates in a parking situated in the Madeleine square, less than 200 mt away. Wifi is free and reliable. We did not try the breakfast. There are nice eateries and cafes nearby, but bear in mind that the area is not cheap! Beds are extremely comfortable. A special thanks to the staff, always polite and welcoming throughout our stay. This will be our hotel when we visit Paris again (hopefully very soon!)

Stayed here with friends who made recommendation.
One of the three rooms was not ready upon arrival, as we were early. They voluntered to store our luggage till room was ready.
It is near the Madeline area, which has a good subway stop to get around town.
Found the room and bathroom spacious, a rare treat in France. The tub was large enough to lay down in and soak after a big day of sightseeing. One hint, one valve is for the tub and one for the shower, temperature is selected by a knob in the middle.
The front desk was very helpful in planning subway routes to different attractions. Also suggestions on what type of pass (single ticket or milti day) to use on the subway.
There are several good restaurants, close, but all very expensive.
I thought the breakfast price was in line for Paris, but found it was just continental and if you wanted an omlette, that was extra, pushing the price on the high side for me.
There is a pastry shop not far away, which is a good value for a morning start.
Nice to have a safe in the room.
We arranged a taxi from the hotel to the airport, arranging the price in advance. It was on time, hauled all six of us and our luggage, and was the cheapest ride whe found on the trip. Definitely book your taxi through the hotel.
Nice hotel with great staff.

My husband and I have visited Hotel de l'Arcade many times and have never been disappointed. The hotel has a perfect location. You can easily reach both the biggest departments stores as well as many famous sights on foot and you also have an easy access to the metro. The hotel is compact, very clean and beautifully decorated. The rooms are convenient and you have everything you need available. This time we stayed on the sixth floor where we had a small balcony and could enjoy the lovely view over the roofs. The service of the front desk is excellent and all members of the staff are most helpful and speak very good English. Breakfast is not included in the price, but worth of trying. I wonder if you can find a better price-quality-ratio in Paris!

Room Tip: Ask for help from the reception.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel de l'Arcade during September and couldn't fault any part of our stay. Being my first time to Paris I wasn't really sure what to expect as I had heard that European hotel rooms/bathrooms can be very small.

From the moment of arrival at reception the warmth of the staff was very evident. Our booking was for 5 nights and I believe we were upgraded to an amazing room with a separate sitting room including a lounge, chairs and a desk which was useful for the computer as well as a very well equipped kitchenette for that odd snack or glass of French wine.

The bedroom was a very good size and the luxurious bathroom had both a big bath and supersize shower. Separate to the bathroom was a smaller room with toilet and basin.

It was great to be able to open the doors onto not one but 2 Juliette balconies. The staff were all so very helpful with any advice on exploring Paris or any other request.

The property is in very good condition, very clean and the housekeeping staff excellent. Location is another big plus for Hotel de l'arcade being in the 8th District. A very safe area, very clean, great little restaurants dotted around the adjoining streets, Fauchon shops very near for amazing chocolates and numerous other Cafes and shops.

We wouldn't hesitate to return to Hotel de l'arcade on on another visit to Paris. A big thumbs up from us

Room Tip: No doubt the Suite with the 2 Juliette Balconies will not disappoint. Lots of room, huge shower, jus...

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is a beautiful building with lots of Paris charm. The front desk staff are superior. They were so patient and informative in helping us with directions. If it wasn't for the excellent directions they gave us, we would still be wandering around lost in Paris. The metro system is so confusing and they helped us get to the places we wanted to see. We dealt mostly with Jeremy and Cecile (sorry if spelling is incorrect) and they were truly what made our visit easier. They were terrific. I think the hotel needs a little updating, but our room was clean and comfortable with a balcony which was a plus. It's in a great location with easy access to the St. Lazare train station and the metro. Close to good cafes and a pharmacy. On the same street on the other side about a block away is a little restaurant/bakery that serves delicious pastries and quiches for reasonable prices and a very friendly staff. My husband asked for orange juice and they threw in a bunch of oranges in this machine and juiced it right there. Now that's fresh!! It has Caprice in the title. The hotel breakfast is good, if not a little pricey and my only complaint about the hotel is that there is no coffee or tea available after breakfast. It would have been nice if it was offered in the lobby after a long day of sightseeing.

The hotel is located in the 8th district It is just one block from the Madelaine metro station so getting around Paris from here is very easy. The room was modestly size but very adequate and comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful. Breakfast is available in the hotel but this is Paris and there are plenty of places nearby to get a coffee and pastry in the morning. The hotel staff were very helpful. They arranged a private car to the airport at a price that was equal to a shared van (see seperate review). The price for our room was modest by Paris standards. We recommend Hotel de L'Arcade without reservation.

Generally I have found the tripadvisor community very accurate about properties. But maybe it is because Paris makes you weak at the knees with joy, the reviews of this hotel are either incredibly overstated or hotels in Paris in general are really really bad.

As one who has flown around the globe twice in the last year and a bit staying in three star and higher properties, this is the lowest quality three star I have seen. Many of the rooms are dated, e.g. The carpets would have been at least cleaned if not removed ( I stayed in two rooms including one mentioned as excellent on this page); the breakfast is skimpy; the rooms are typical smaller European ones etc. Internet is very slow and it is impossible to work at the very small desk as you get a desk footstool, not a chair.

If this were a two star hotel I would likely rave about it too!! The staff is very friendly, they do work hard to keep the place clean, etc.

So message is simple, great two star hotel! Maybe it is just a general lower standard in Paris, but international travellers be forewarned, three star it "ain't".

Room Tip: If you want international level three star, this is not it
