It should be one of the seven world wonder. A very lovely museum. My family and I love it.You have to plan your visit as it's impossible to visit the whole Louvre in 1 day.

You need weeks here!
We had one afternoon, so we paid for the Nintendo Ds self guided tour and picked the museum highlights tour, which is great as it takes you to all the 'must see' stuff for your average tourist (like us!).
There is so much more to it and we barely scratched the surface, but felt we had got out of it what we wanted without much stress.

Short lines in late August. I love the Mona Lisa and the Venus the Milo. I was pleasant.y surprised by the quality of the cafeteria food.

First thing to say is if you are English and under 26 don't prebook tickets and make sure you take photo ID...it's free for you!

We went with a plan in mind of what we wanted to see and got totally confused to begin with. We had previously seen tours online we wanted to do but couldn't figure out where to start or how to access them. Eventually we gave up and did our own thing...wad massively disappointed as wanted to do the Da Vinci Code tour. We did obviously see the Mona Lisa and Venus do Milo and a few other interesting bits you have to see but at the end of the day it's another massive museum! It might be more to others tastes than mine!

I'm glad to say I have now seen the Louvre and the architecture of the pyramids is amazing. Was also amazed we didn't have to queue as we were told to prepare for hour long or more queues! We did enter from the metro station however rather than above ground where we left...there were queues to get in there.

Obviously one of those places that you must go at least once during your lifetime. We spent an entire day from open to close there and only managed to see half of it ... literally. There is just something awe inspiring about being that close to all of these famous works of art. You could easily spend a week there, but of course we had so much else to see while in Paris. The museum pass is a great idea. Aside from the value, it would be worth it just to skip the queue to buy tickets at any of the museums on the list. The food at the museum itself is actually quite good. We are quite fond of the basic Parisian baguette with ham and butter so we did that for lunch along with a pastry of course. The building itself used to be a French palace and is a gorgeous work of art itself.
