“A small perfect gem of a hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

This is a great little hotel, not expensive, and with wonderful helpful staff. a touch of Falty Towers here, but in a nice and amusing way, with the eccentric couple running it. They cannot do enough for you.
My room was the one and only `courtyard` room on the ground floor....this meant a window looking out onto a potplant with a statue in the reception area. But it was quite private and very comfortable, albeit on the small side.
The decor is charming, set in the 18th century of the`Compte de Caron de Beaumarchais,` complete with flowery wallpaper and furnishings in the bedrooms.
The breakfast room is very pleasant, with soothing classical music, and an ample continental breakfast.
The position of the hotel is right in amongst it all. Set in the 4eme Marais district , not far from Notre Dame, and surrounded by all types of cafes, restaurants and bars . A must is to visit the fascinating Rue de Rosier, just around the corner, where you will find all sorts of eateries and action going on non stop.
I can certainly recommend this little gem to anyone.

Room Tip: If you want the one and only cheap `courtyard` room, book early.

My wife and I stayed here for a week. It was an excellent value compared to paris hotel rates, as we only paid around $250/night. For a small additional fee we received a daily breakfast of buttery, flaky croissants, yogurt, coffee, fresh squeezed juice and homemade jam which was delivered to our room. There was a lovely view of parisian streetscapes from the room and it is located in a safe, hospitable area which is very convenient to the metro and to several nearby attractions (Hotel d'ville, Place des Vosges, Notre Dame).

The furnishings of the room and the hotel are a little worn, but maintain their charm well. The owner (an older english gentleman) was very helpful with any questions we had regarding transportation and attractions. On one occasion, our toilet stopped flushing and he fixed it immediately.

On the downside, the bed was a little hard and uncomfortable on and the internet service was very unreliable and slow. Overall, however, I would not hesitate to return, especially considering the central location and reasonable rates.

Dear Madam, dear Sir,
We thank you for your recent review of the hotel. We are very pleased to know that your memories 1 year later are still so good and so present. Your remarks give us the occasion to comment on both renovation and furnishing of the hotel.
The renovation of the hotel is a constant preoccupation.
Last works in 2012, June and July: bathrooms' floor tiles and paintings have been redone in all rooms. Door closer are to be changed on October. Before December 2012: all bathroom cupboards will be replaced, 2 sowers and 6 bathtubs should be renovated.
Furnishing. You find antiques in all rooms, (and we continue to buy antiques), which is not so common in hotels today. Antiques cannot have both the charm of the past and the perfection of new furnishings.
We will be very pleased to welcome you for the 20th anniversary of our hotel opened on 1993.

We just competed a 4 night stay at the lovely hotel Caron de Beaumarchais. It was wonderful! The room was small but oh-so cute. The bed simple but quite comfortable (though a bit short for my 6"4 husband!). The breakfast was stupendous-delicious breads, soft boiled egg, yogurt, fruit, and savory coffee. More than enough food to start the day and have enough for a snack mid-morning. The most wonderful thing about this place, however, was the service. From the moment we arrived the staff went out of their way to see to our needs. They were friendly, concerned, helpful. Most especially Phillip. He was a delight - a font of knowledge and helpful hints, he made our otherwise hectic, over-stimulating stay in Paris great. Thank you hotel Caron de Beaumarchais and Phillip especially.

The decor in this adorable hotel may be over the top for some travelers -- from the flowery wall paper to the flickering electric candelabras and chandeliers. But the Marais location, near Notre Dame, and bargain rates will appeal to everyone. Rooms are small but comfortable. Cute balconies overlook the neighborhood. We were concerned about noise from the street, but the windows are heavy and seal out any sounds when closed.

Breakfast isn’t included, but a delicious spread is offered for 10E that includes large portions of eggs, croissants, fruit, yogurt, juice and good coffee. Best of all, the staff is incredibly attentive. We watched in amazement as the manager drew up maps for a guest then escorted her down the block to make sure she could find her way. What could be more charming!

Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais provides the quintessential, Parisian experience. A small, charming, boutique hotel located in the Marais, it is centrally located with a staff who consistently go out of the way to provide excellent, helpful service. We had one of the front, top-floor rooms with a balcony overlooking the rooftops of Paris. The room and bath, while small, were well-appointed and the balcony provided an exceptional view. A perfect base from which to explore the Marais and/or the rest of Paris.

We stayed here for 7 nights in July, the room was a decent size and comfortable (understanding we were in the heart of the Marais in Paris, city of love :) ) and had a view down onto the street where the hustle and bustle was relentless but fascinating. The room had air conditioning so it was very easy to lock out the street noise when you wanted a rest.

The room had fresh flowers which is a lovely touch in a real period room that steps you back into a more romantic time of Paris, and my husband who hates florals didn't mind it at all. There was a good TV, the bathroom was an ample size and after we asked for a shower curtain (the shower is over the bath) we stopped drowning the bathroom in water. It was very quite at night.

We had an issue with fresh paint fumes, it was quite intoxicating and really spoiled my stay the first half till I got used to it, or it subsided, however this isn't an issue that would be ongoing, and there wasn't much that could have been done after the fact, so 'c'est la vie', I am sure the smell is long gone by now. The first few days saw the toilet leaking but the owner was very apologetic, offered us free breakfast one morning and had the plumber come in daily until he fixed the problem, he couldn't have done more and the lady who cleans the rooms made sure there was always a clean towel to soak up the water, she was lovely. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, but a couple of the reception staff should probably move on as they are letting down the team.

The hotel is in an ideal location, steps away from many restaurants, cafe's, bars, patisseries, a supermarket, and only a short stroll to the river Seine. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as we found it an expensive option with so many good cafe's and patisseries around.

A good choice if you want to stay in the Marais..

Dear Madam, Dear Sir,
We thank you for your kind review on your stay last July.
We apologize for the disagreement you had in the work we do to keep the hotel at its best. It is difficult to have no smell when you redo all paintings in the rooms as we did in all rooms from May to July 2012. Even if you believe what the painters say: "no smell or very little...just one day...". We also have redone all the bathroom floors with consequences we cannot not expect and have to fix day by day (the unfortunate toilet leaking in your room). We did all our best as you kindly understood and I am ver sorry you had the inconvenience. This is the bad points of a hotel on its 20th anniversary, always in care of the best. It cannot be perfect. The followers guests in your room enjoyed their stay at the best, for sure. I very much regret you did not have what should be your expectation.
Concerning our staff, you are also perfectly right: 2 persons at the reception could not stay longer. One was replacing a receptionist on vacation, his mission was very short. The second has just left the hotel.
We thank you again for being so comprehensive. We do hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in our property.
With all our best regards,
Alain BIGEARD, the Owner and all the staff of Caron de Beaumarchais.

My mother, sister and I shared a room (two twins + extra bed) for two nights, and it was tight, but it was just the charming Parisian experience we wanted. You can walk to many sites (Notre Dame, the Seine, Louvre, etc.) and the shopping & restaurants in the area can't be beat. They brought us an absolutely amazing breakfast tray to our room and we were in heaven. Incredibly good croissants, coffee, kiwi, eggs, etc. SO good!

Room Tip: Front side is quaint. Noise was not a problem.
