“Very intimate and welcoming”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

A small and intimate hotel in an excellent location for exploring Paris. Staff are courteous and considerate and keen to help.

Rooms are small but adequate; make sure you opt for a delux at the very least and ask to be 6th or 7th floor to mitigate noise from outside.

Beware all thing cost much more in Paris especially restaurants/bars.

Would definitely return.

Room Tip: Minimum 6th floor

Dear James B,

Thank you for your kind review.

It is always nice reading such comments about our staff. Being a 54 room-property allows us to establish a privileged and personalized contact with our Guests, which makes our job very pleasant.

Our 22 square meter-Deluxe rooms meet the Parisian standards regarding the rooms size. As they overlook the street, they usually offer more light. Our double windows also prevent our guests from beeing disturbed by the noise, eventhough the rue Montalembert is very quiet.

We are looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Best Regards,

From the moment we arrived we encountered the most professional, friendly and helpful staff. We had booked a junior suite and were upgraded to a newly renovated suite on the 6th floor. It was spacious and lovely. We stayed for three nights and each night dined at a small restaurant recommended by the concierge. One was better than the next. I would highly recommend this hotel. The location is perfect. Close to many museums yet in a lovely walking neighborhood.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 68. It is a newly renovated spacious suite. It looks out on a quiet courtyard and...

Dear Lori W,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience at the Montalembert.

We are glad to hear that your stay fully met your expectations, as well as our Concierge’s recommendations. Our quality of service is our absolute priority; therefore it is important for us to know that it shows through our teams’ performance.

The Suite that you have been upgraded to is unique, since it is our Suite, entirely designed by Christian Liaigre. Surprising our guests and treating them is a pleasure for us, whenever possible.

We are looking forward to welcoming you again soon.

Very impressed by the staff. Emailed for an upgrade while traveling to it, and when arriving Juliette had already sorted it. Both she and Sophie were very helpful whenever we asked for info.

Bar and restaurant staff, again, were very polite and helpful. Always service with a smile. Even when my husband ordered the wrong wine, they sorted it without hassle and even blamed themselves for the mistake.

Room was spotless and loved the little “surprises” left by the housekeepers.
The location was fantastic. In walking distance to some nice restaurants and café’s.

My only gripe was that on the last evening we were planning to dine in and planned our days around it, but they didn’t tell us till that afternoon that they had a private function for the next 2 days so the restaurant and bar was closed for the guests. Bit annoying as we loved coming back in the evening and have a nightcap in the bar. An earlier warning would have been much appreciated.

But overall we loved the hotel and would definitely book it again

Dear Nicki R,

Thank you for choosing our hotel for your recent stay in Paris.

We are surprised and disappointed to hear that you had not been informed of the private evenings that were held at the restaurant while you were there. We usually do not accept private events, not to penalize our hotel guests. On these rare occasions however, we make a point informing our guests, so that we may offer them some alternatives and assistance in organizing their evenings. Thank you for pointing out this element, which shows that our organization did not function properly this time, and we are sorry about that.

Reading your nice comments on our different teams is a real pleasure, on another hand. We will definitely share them with everyone. All of your remarks constitute not only a reward, but also strong encouragement to our daily work.

We will be pleased to welcome you back on your next visit in Paris.
Best regards,

I like this hotel. I stay a few times a year. The rooms a compact and bijou, but comfortable. Te service is great, in a way only Parisian hotels can do (slightly condescending, but ultimately helpful).

Don't stay here if you are of larger proportion, as lifts are very small, and stairs are steep. Quiet, unassuming little hotel.

Bar is great, food good. Food better next door (Atelier Joel Rubuchon) - get the hotel to book a table for you and enjoy spending €400 on dinner with your lover.

Very convenient for Musee D'Orsay, etc.

Dear HumptyDumptyMidlands,

Thank you for your loyalty towards our hotel and for your kind review.

Being a 54 rooms hotel allows us to offer a cosy and “felted” atmosphere, very much appreciated by our guests.

I will share your positive comments to our food and beverage department and to our Chef, David Maroleau.

We hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you again soon.

My mother, sister and I took a luxurious five day vacation in Paris and stayed at the Hotel Montalembert. Two of us were on the 6th floor, one was on the seventh. We had Deluxe rooms because we were advised that the smaller rooms were, well… small. These rooms were also small by US standards, but not claustrophobic and the two 6th floor rooms had balconies with view of the Eiffel Tower. We had 65 and 63, and 76 (7th floor has sloped walls because it's near the top of the building so it feels smaller, has no balcony and a smaller window). If you've got money to burn look into the suite just across from room 65, which we looked into and it was really bright, roomy and dare I say, sexy? Oui! All of these rooms were with modern Christian Liagré furnishings. At first we had room 64, which was a "traditional" room. They told me the only difference was the armoire was traditional, but that was NOT the case. The moldings were old fashioned as was ALL of the furniture. That's not our taste, so if you want chic, be sure to ask for a modern room. Perhaps because we were a three room reservation they adjusted our price down a bit and threw in a free continental breakfast. I advise you ask for that… it can't hurt. I was told that the rooms are going to be renovated, and I must admit that the furniture could use a refresh. Also, the pillows weren't down and the sheets weren't as soft as I expected. But the curtains were made of rich material and blocked out the light. The bathrooms were tight on size, and the stone countertops were marked up with water spots and look dated. They have nice amenities, though… L'Occitane, and good maid service. The room was quiet, as the hotel is on a less frequently travelled street.

The neighborhood is great. Near the Louvre (just across the Seine) and in Saint-Germain-des- Prés, which has many galleries and antique stores. Rue de Bac is great for shopping and the Bon Marche department store is nearby. Deyrolles, the well known taxidermy store is also close and worth a look if that sort of thing doesn't bother you.

The restaurant at the hotel is quite good, and the continental breakfast consists of pain au chocolate, croissants and baguette with coffee and fresh juice. The coffee was the only disappointment. Not their strong suit to be sure.

I was bothered by the smell in the lobby. They have a machine that puffs out their signature smell that's not unlike Christian Tortu. It was overwhelming to me, but I'm sensitive. Lastly, the staff was nice. The concierge was helpful, but we had to push him a few times when he said something was impossible, and we were pretty certain it could be done.

All in all, I'd say the hotel, which isn't cheap is mostly worth it and Paris… there's no more beautiful place.

Room Tip: Modern rooms are best. 63, 65 had balconies. High floor is better light and view. Suite on the 6th f...

Dear JuliePinkie,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review.

We are glad that you enjoyed the central location of our hotel, as well as its quiet environment.

The Montalembert offers 2 different ambiances, indeed, which allows us respond to our guests’ preferences for modern or traditional decoration. The rooms have been designed by Christian Liaigre, and the Suite that you saw on the 6th floor in his exclusive creation for the Montalembert , as all furniture are unique pieces.

Please, be ensured that all of your comments have been careful read. They will definitely help us improve our quality of service.

We are looking forward to welcoming you and your family again soon to the Montalembert,

Stayed there to be close to the Attelier. The receptionist ( male, don't know his name) was rude & arrogant . Twice in this short stay he behaved with disrespect . Shouldn't work serving people . I thought to complain to the manger of the hotel,to put him in place, but decided to enjoy the day instead
