Owner description: The Arc de triomphe was begun in 1806, on the orders of Napoleon I to honour the victories of his Grande Armée. Inspired by the great arches of antiquity, the monument combines the commemorative with the symbolic and it has always played a major role in the national republican consciousness. Every evening, the flame is lit on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the Great War. An exhibition portrays the history and explains its symbolic importance, nationally as well as internationally. The terrace provides superb views both by day and night across the city and its great sweeping avenues.-Opening hours : April to September: from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; October to March: from 10 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.-Closed: 1st January, 1st May, 8th May (morning), 14th July (morning), 11th November (morning), 25th December-Entry fees: Adults = 9,5 €; Concessions = 6 €; Free admission: 18-25 years old* (citizens of one of the 27 countries of the EU or are non-European permanent residents of France) * excluding school groups

An impressive monument in the centre of Paris. Walk along the Champs Elysées and come to the famous roundabout in the centre of Paris. If you are brave enough you can drive around it. Don’t walk. Take the underground walkway that is much safer.

Lesser crowds than Eiffel Tower, less than half the price of entry, and able to take photos where detail can be seen as distinct from top of Tour Eiffel where one is too far away. Able to get a good impression of the layout of Paris streets and where many of its noted architectural masterpieces are located.

Could not believe all the traffic around this place. Pretty cool how it all keeps moving. I wish it was free to get on top of this thing. But you got to make a buck.

Amazing experience! Recommend buying tickets in advance because the lines are long mainly to get on top of the Arc, take comfortable shoes and some water because you will have to take some steps to get on top and it’s tiring, but the view is amazing from up top. Pictures don’t do justice on the view or on how big the Arc is.

The first time we visited last week it was closed due to a strike. There were no signs whatsoever and the only way we knew was that we asked a worker that we just happened to see. We returned a few days later and it was open. Beware that it's a narrow and long climb to the top. Don't plan on using the bathroom there unless you want to wait in the slowest line in history (we didn't wait). The view up top is amazing and should be missed.

There is an elevator for people who have mobility issues but it's restricted to most people.

If you have the Paris Museum Pass you can get in free and skip the line. I HIGHLY recommend this pass (and I'm not getting paid to say so). Who wants to waste time in lines? No one!
