Owner description: The Arc de triomphe was begun in 1806, on the orders of Napoleon I to honour the victories of his Grande Armée. Inspired by the great arches of antiquity, the monument combines the commemorative with the symbolic and it has always played a major role in the national republican consciousness. Every evening, the flame is lit on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the Great War. An exhibition portrays the history and explains its symbolic importance, nationally as well as internationally. The terrace provides superb views both by day and night across the city and its great sweeping avenues.-Opening hours : April to September: from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; October to March: from 10 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.-Closed: 1st January, 1st May, 8th May (morning), 14th July (morning), 11th November (morning), 25th December-Entry fees: Adults = 9,5 €; Concessions = 6 €; Free admission: 18-25 years old* (citizens of one of the 27 countries of the EU or are non-European permanent residents of France) * excluding school groups

“Long line but great view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

For a great view that is not as crowded as the Eiffel Tower or as narrow as the tower of Notre Dame, I highly recommend the Arc de Triomphe. My son loved the telescopes and looking at people down on the Champs-Elysees.

“Great if you can manage the steps”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

Great attraction! We did a mistake and left Arc to the end of our day trip to Paris. After hours of walking around the city, those spiral steps killed us :))) But WHAT A VIEW after all !
Definitely would suggest to see this

“A must see in Paris”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

A trip to Paris is never complete without visiting Arc de Triomph. The walk along Champ Elysees toward this amazing structure is worth it. <3 There is a fee if you want to go on top of it but there is a free designated place in the middle of the Champ Elysees road where you can take a good shot of it...

“Rounded our trip to Paris off nicely”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

We visited the Arc on our last day in Paris. There is a sub way that links the pavement to the base, just in case you are wondering how you get across the mad traffic that circles it. It cost 9 euro to climb and children go for free. Its around 200 steps to climb to the top, there is a lift for those that might struggle but I believe is 30 odd steps to get to it though and you need a member of staff to operate the door as its opened by a key. The views from the top are great and gives you a great view of the Eiffel Tower.

“A great vista of Paris”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

The Arc really does provide a great view of Paris, particularly if you catch it on a nice clear day. Great views down all the avenues gives a really good explanation of why Paris is such a good city to visit.

Admittedly a little expensive considering, but worth it if you're blessed with good weather.
