Owner description: The Arc de triomphe was begun in 1806, on the orders of Napoleon I to honour the victories of his Grande Armée. Inspired by the great arches of antiquity, the monument combines the commemorative with the symbolic and it has always played a major role in the national republican consciousness. Every evening, the flame is lit on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the Great War. An exhibition portrays the history and explains its symbolic importance, nationally as well as internationally. The terrace provides superb views both by day and night across the city and its great sweeping avenues.-Opening hours : April to September: from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; October to March: from 10 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.-Closed: 1st January, 1st May, 8th May (morning), 14th July (morning), 11th November (morning), 25th December-Entry fees: Adults = 9,5 €; Concessions = 6 €; Free admission: 18-25 years old* (citizens of one of the 27 countries of the EU or are non-European permanent residents of France) * excluding school groups

As one of the landmarks of Paris, you cannot skip it :-) It's quite amazing building & view around this very crowded landmark. However, we were still able to take some beautiful photo's without too many strangers on the back ground :-) The weather was also fortunately very good & clear with the morning sun .......

Paris offers more places from where you can get a beautyfull view over the city. Arc de Triomphe offers a good view and the queu is shorter than e.g. the Eiffel Tower. You get tickets in the underground passages from Champs Elysee.

I think people underestimate how amazing this monument is! It is much larger than expected and it is absolutely beautiful. The views from the top are great and looking down at the chaos of the traffic circle is quite fun. The climb up is tiring but worth it.

This is like the Eiffel Tower, you have to do it! I had heard about the crazy traffic that circles it constantly, and wanted to watch the chaos. But, there were hardly any cars around, oh well, have to try again next time. The stairs are a bit much if you are not in shape as there is NO elevator. But the views are fantastic! It is very reasonably priced, I think we spent less than 30 Euro for a family of 4. The gift shop is very expensive! Save your money and get similar things from the street vendors along the Seine.
