Been there twice and will be going there third time during Easter 2013. So much to see and of course I want to "meet" Jim and Oscar again. I love the peace and quiet there is in this cemetery. Worth to visit!! Lot of famous grave sites and so many interesting mausoleums to see and just walk around and wonder what kind of people these people were.

Take moment and walk around!

Went with girlfriends and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is truly a city. Seeing the tombs of so many famous and infamous people was a "trip" !

The art nouveau gravestones and memorials are very moving. Some have stained glass panels, like miniature cathedrals. Celebrity graves, of course, but was sad to see that the new memorial for Oscar Wilde had been damaged and was in need of a barrier.

On a cool bright new years eve afternoon we took the metro out to Pere-Lachaise. I had never been there and was not quite sure what to expect. Walking through the main gate reminded me of a walking into a miniature architecturally pleasing city. Family mausoleums as small temples to the departed tightly packed up the hillside. Maps are available at the office free of charge listing the famous. Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison, Yves Montand with Simone Signoret. Strangely romantic with 3 potted primrose' placed at the foot of their stone. Peaceful, serene and a wonderful way to spend the afternoon with someone you love.

I've visited Pere-Lachaise cemetery around 5pm and was amazing. Very typical horror movie style (crows, open coffins and mausoleum). Advise: use a map to visit tomb's artists.
A must of Paris if you like this kind of things.
