“Beautiful Place”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

This place of worship is a real beauty. It is free admission and can get quite busy.
I was amazed that even during mass you are allowed to roam around at your leisure and take photographs (as long as there is no flash photography).

If you want to climb to the top of one of the opened towers it will cost you to see views over Paris.

I was overwhelmed by the beauty and peacefulness of Notre Dame. The stain glass windows are amazing. We also went up to the top of the cathedral (fee payable) which I felt was well worth it although my legs thought otherwise after tackling the spiral steps! My daughter (9) also enjoyed the trip to the top and the views when we reached it. Would recommend a visit.

“Busy but worth going”

Don't miss the Crypt at the top end of the square - it would be easy not to spot it and it's really well worth a visit to see the archaeology uncovered in the 1960's

The Notre Dame is grand and it's beautiful. The lines to get in are big, however once you are inside you can take your time to explore. To me the windows are the most beautiful work of art in there.

“Totally Worth a Visit!”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

The interior of this building is beautiful. I was really impressed with how quickly lines moved along, despite how crowded the place always seemed to be. Even though I visited several times, on different days and at varying times, I never seemed to find a prime time to visit. However, I thought that one of the best WAYS to visit was by attending a session of Mass. The experience of attending Mass, even if you are not Catholic, is really a great experience and an awesome way to see a bit of the workings inside the Catholic religion. While I did not understand hardly any of the actual ceremony (not being Catholic myself and also speaking no French), I appreciated the beautiful music and the sense of reverence through the ceremony. It gave me a chance to sit quietly and take in the interior of the cathedral without being jostled or disturbed by others. It set a nice tone to my experience as well. Whenever I visit a religious building, if permitted, I try to attend at least one meeting to better appreciate its specific function within its particular religion.
The exterior is not as large as Disney's "Hunchback of Notre Dame" would make you believe, but it is still impressive ;)
Around the immediate area are lots of great places to eat and some really cool views of the river. This part of Paris is fun to just stroll around at leisure and try to take as much of it in as possible.
