Notre Dame is an incredible piece of architecture but it also has a long spiritual history which comes through strongly in the excellent audioguide. This was surprisingly one of the busiest attractions we visited but the flow of visitors was never congested. The archaeological crypt, which highlights the changing history of Paris and its surrounds is also worth a visit - with exhibits, ruins and audiovisual displays, including interactive 3D models of ancient Paris and buildings.

The climb to the top of Notre Dame might be a never-ending train of tourists of all temperaments and levels of fitness, but the views are well worth it. Paris rolls out in all directions from Notre Dame and the sight is truly privileged. You'll feel lucky for having the experience.

Definitely take a visit here on a trip to Paris. The inside is beautiful (especially the stained glass windows). There is no fee to get in and no queue either. You will need to take the Metro to get here or it is around a 10/15 minute walk down the Seine from the Louvre.

This cathedral is celebrating its 850 anniversary this year. Even if you are not religious or catholic you cant help but feel like you are in a very special and sacred place when you enter. Always crowded but worth the wait. Go up to the bell area if you are in good physical shape. Would hope to see a different shop area maybe out of the main cathedral space (bigger and it just doesnt feel right inside). Seeing the treasures inside is worth the 4 euro entrance fee. A must see place.
