The nice thing about this Musee is that one does’nt need to book up in advance. There is no line up - simply arrive whenever, buy tickets and stroll in. The Musee is located in an old house in a quiet area of west Paris, close to the Bois de Bologna. Upstairs one find an interesting variety of art, but the feature is downstairs - the largest collection of works by Monet, from early days throughto his splendid lily ponds and the rather dark point Japanese. It all makes a splendid prelude to a visit to the wonderful house and gardens in Giverny.
This makes Monet more approachable than larger museums, while providing several impressive rooms of his works. A quiet area, easy walk from metro La Muette, and adjacent to the Bois de Boulogne. Well worth a visit.
Nicely housed in a beautiful former mansion, this is a fantastic way to view art. We had recently visited Giverny and still in the mood for more Monet - and it is here. Monet lived to be 86, so had plenty of time to paint and used it well, his output rivaling that of the ubiquitous Nepas Toucher.
Packed with some of the best Impressionist works especially the Monets in the basement this museum should be considered as one of the top 5 in Paris.
This is a gallery dedicated to Claude Monet’s paintings. It is not in the limelight, and it is off the beaten path, so I have never seen a wait to get in. I have visited 4 times over the years - every time I visit Paris. I recommend this Monet museum to you.
