This was our third visit to Paris and we wanted to immerse ourselves in Monet -- which was easilty done at the Marmottan Monet. We went mid morning on Tuesday before the crowds arrived and spent a leisurely three hours being visually transported to Giverny.

Of the beaten path, but worth visiting, is this amazing mansion filled with Monet originals, as well as Degas, Morisots, and Delacroixs. Most of Monet’s works we’re donated by his son after his death in 1966. The work entitled Impressions, sunset is normally on view here, except it is now on loan to a museum in Australia! This is the first painting which set the stage for the Impressionist movement.

If you like Monet don’t miss this museum. It has the largest collection of Monet’s pictures. The house is just as good to see.

I don’t agree that it’s “hidden” but it is certainly a gem and off the beaten path. There were a lot of folks there when we went but was worth it. Largest collection of Monet anywhere and other great ones too: Degas, Manet, etc.

This is a great gallery to see several of the Old Masters as well as an entire floor of Monets. It wasn’t crowded and one could spend time viewing each piece of art at a leisurely pace, I would highly recommend this gallery.
