The Monet collection at the Marmottan came from Monet's last living descendant. Many of the paintings came from Monet's home at Giverny. There are multiple panels of water lilies along multiple other scenes.

In addition to works by Monet, the museum has an impressive collection of works by Berthe Morisot, an important female contributor to the Impressionist movement. Other items on display include early 19th century French neoclassical paintings, furniture, and sculpture as well as several paintings by Monet's contemporaries including August Renoir.

Check the website for current temporary exhibits.

The museum is approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the La Muette metro station through a lovely park. The surrounding neighborhood is charming with several restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and pastry shops.

Best to go around opening time to avoid lines.

The Marmottan is a haven for anyone who wishes to enjoy Monet’s paintings. We got to the museum on a Sunday 15 minutes before opening and were first in to buy tickets. If you are planning on visiting the garden in Giverny it is well worthwhile buying a combination ticket here to skip the line at Giverny. The museum is in a lovely neighbourhood with tree lined parks. There is a fun kids playground nearby. When you enter go straight down to the basement floor where the Monet’s are displayed (you pass through an interesting exhibit on “Oriental visions from dreams into light”). There is Monet’s “Sunrise” which we got to enjoy all by ourselves. As well as several other Monet paintings, there is a lovely circular room with benches in the centre to enjoy four gorgeous paintings from his waterlily series. And again peace and quiet (not the craziness of the noisy waterlily rooms at the Orangerie museum) The rest of the museum has some lovely Berthe Morisot paintings, and the rooms of the mansion and the rest of the collection interesting. If you enjoy a walk, it is a pleasant one to the Eiffel Tower.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Marmottan. It's an easy stroll from the La Muette metro & there are lots of cafes, bakeries, etc. in the area near the station. The museum itself is housed in a beautiful old mansion. Although I went primarily to see the Monet paintings, I was pleasantly surprised that they had quite a number of Morisot paintings as well as a temporary exhibit of Orientalist art which I love. The Monet canvasses on the lower level are, of course, breathtaking. They're beautifully lit in a spacious room so you don't feel crowded. As well as the great works of art, the house is full of fine furniture & decorative arts and the gift shop was one of the best I visited while in Paris. A wonderful afternoon.

Very pleasant museum.

I went there to see Impression but also saw beautiful lilies.
They are even better than ones in Orangerie

I recommend to buy combined ticket to the museum and Monet foundation in Giverny too and see his garden itself

My wife and I really enjoyed this museum. Set in residential neighborhood, its setting is very pleasant. Just getting there is pleasant. Entire museum is first rate, but especially its room featuring Claude Monet. Wonderful experience.

Not totally overrun with tourists like Louvre and Orsay museums.

Highly recommend.
