The assorted material from excavations around the Notre Dame area made this a worthwhile excursion. The top floor housed a quirky array of interesting artifacts. The tapestries were of greater interest, the area devoted to manuscripts was quite fascinating, but it was disappointing that there was a low level of middle ages armory, etc.

We really enjoyed the Cluny. Even with the 2 main attractions absent (the Unicorn tapestries were on loan to japan and the Roman Baths were closed for renovation), this place still was worth the visit. We found much of it's contents fascinating. As with many other museums in Paris, the buildings themselves were interesting & had lots of history. It's not huge museum - you can see it in an hour or so - and located in the left bank/latin quarter area, so it was easy to fit it into the schedule.

Much like their streets, monuments, bridges, and museums in Paris are all history still in motion. Visiting the Cluny Medieval Museum is no exception. A visit worth doing in what was once a "hotel" for the clergy, Impressive collection of works, an excellent audio guide, and if possible try to attend one of the numerous concerts that are held there.

We did not check in advance and it turned out the famous unicorn tapestries were in Japan. It is nice little museum, but without the tapestries, not really worth it.

The middle ages is the big attraction here. Especially the "Lady & the Unicorn" series of tapestries. But an unsung jewel is the jewel-like drawings on vellum manuscripts done by monks. The museum also houses some original stained glass windows from Sainte Chapelle on Cite Island (Original Paris). Well worth seeing especially if you have purchased the Paris Museum Pass. Usually no lines, often overlooked but situated in the Latin Quarter on the old Gallo-Roman baths which you can view also.
