“Elegant Park in the Marais (4th Arrondissement)”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

The Place des Vosges is situated walking distance from the Rue de Rivoli in the stylish and urban Marais neighborhood. An elegant square, red-brick buildings with gray pitched roofs and fancy windows face a public garden of manicured grass, fountains, and aligned trees. Ringing the garden are many benches on which visitors can relax and enjoy the calming scene of this city green space. Relaxing on the benches, one can have a snack or lunch and watch birds, children and young people and couples collectively enjoy the Place. I recommend a visit.

“Beautiful square”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

In spite of the amount of visitor, this place manages to retain a quaint, calmer atmosphere outside the main bustle of the city.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

This square, tucked away from the main thoroughfares of the Bastille and the Marais, was formerly called the Place Royale, and was founded by Henri IV in 1604. The uniform red-brick buildings give the square and elegance, and contain much historical interest. The Hotel de Sully (Hotel means a mansion house) property stretches through to the rue St Antoine, and is the headquarters of the Historical Monuments of France organisation. The bookshop there has a wonderful painted wooden beam ceiling. The apartment of Victor Hugo is also open to the public (free entry) and has been thoughtfully restored to display his tastes and life. In the centre of the square is a fenced garden, where you may sit under the trees and observe other people relaxing or just walking through. There is a sand-pit where small children may bring their spades and play. The park is enhanced by a central equestrian statue, and fountains.

“A delight to see”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

We accidentally came across this location after our visit to the Bastille monument. really beautiful place a great little park well designed that also included Victor Hugo's house, entry free. If you are close to this location, I would recommend a visit.
