“Almost a Secret”

This square is the oldest in Paris and my favourite little park. It is off the beaten track for most tours as it is close to the Bastille and Marais.

“Relaxing place to chill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

One of the most beautiful squares I have ever seen. Incredible architecture, ambience and atmosphere. Visit on a Sunday afternoon when families are relaxing and playing on the grass by the fountains. Victor Hugo's house is also here.

“Great place to sit out a Parisian thunderstorm (or just sit when it's sunny)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

I had been shopping in the Marais and was taking photographs in the Place des Vosges when the heavens opened in a biblical fashion. Not too shabby a place to wait it out I have to say. Lots of photo opps, galleries to peruse and then the friendly Café Victor Hugo to watch the madness with a glass of wine. Go.

“Intrigues of France”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

The whole of the Marais is a living picture book of French history. This is encapsulated by the Place des Vosges, once the royal place where king and queen inhabited opposite ends( divorce 16th century style). Now it is a lovely green space for a rest and to observe life go past. DO NOT stand on a bench or assemble any groups to talk to them, as I did once with students to give a potted history of the place. You risk being arrested for incitement to riot! Literary buffs can visit the Maison de Victor Hugo in one of the corners of the Place.

“Crowded and a lovely green space in this amazing city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

This is the great escape place when you are tired of window shopping. Just wandering through and sitting on a bench to eat a snack while watching the locals enjoy the sunshine is delightful.
