Beautiful architecture! The only grip is the lines! Book in advance and go early or really late! Why stand in line for hours to get tickets then have to stand in another to go up? It's cheaper to take the stairs but obviously more work. Take the metro! It's easily marked when to get off at different attractions. Or I suggest taking the hop on hop off bus that you can take. It's well work the price as you can take the double decker bus all over to the different attractions of Paris and listen to the tour as well as get on and off anytime you want during that day to see something else! Tons of snacks nearby and underneath the Eiffel though a bit more expensive. There are NO close bathrooms except for ONE toilet that is all automatic approximately a block away. There is always a line but it's self cleaning after each person who uses it (which helps account for the line). Watch out for people spitting from above and don't stand where you could get hit. There are people trying to get you to sign your name on clipboards if you speak English, ignore them otherwise they will try and take your money by saying you signed an agreement form. Many scammers watch yourselves!!

The tower itself is fantastic. You can see it from everywhere. A boat tour on the Seine and the top of the Arc de Triomphe provided some of the best. We were also fortunate to see fireworks by the tower on Bastille Day, July 14. What a fun experience! The lights on the tower that night to go with the fireworks were fantastic.

The only reason the tower gets 4 stars instead of 5 from me is due to the waits involved with the visit to the top. It's July; we expected craziness. It took about an hour and a half to reach the first elevator, which takes you to the 2nd floor.

We had our snack/dinner here and had a lot of fun with the views before getting in another long line to take the elevator to the very top. This line was not as bad as I expected. It wrapped around, so we had nice views most of the line, and it also moved quickly.

Very fun experience at the top, as is expected if it is your first time there. Lots of photos, then it was time to head down.

The trip down is where I lost my patience. The line for the elevator down to the second floor was utterly absurd. I can't figure out how we got up to the top so quickly, and couldn't get down. I guess maybe they only had one elevator bringing people down at that point. Truly insane.

Get to the second floor and wait in another line to get down to the ground. Well, we waited about 10 minutes without moving and decided to take 705 steps down instead. Probably worth it.

Still, it is a must do if you've never been. We had a really fun time despite the elevator mess.

The Eiffel tower is amazing and a must-see in Paris. I especially liked the view from our evening boat trip on the Seine. We tried to go up the eiffel tower twice and the wait was over two hours both times. Get tickets if you can. We started trying to get tickets months in advance, so plan early!!!

Have to go ,just to say " I went up the Eiffel Tower" Will get a great view from 2nd floor-you don't need to wait in line again to go to the summit

We queued at 9 am on a Sunday in July and had a ticket by 9:45 to go to the top. That costs €14.50 for an adult. You can also take the stairs, or go to the 1st level if you're short on time. The view is spectacular, and it helps you to understand just how widespread Paris' beauty and architectural planning extends. It is neat to be able to see the main sights in Paris all within a glance. On a hazy day, I don't think it would be worth it, but if it's the only time you'll ever be in Paris, perhaps you might want to go anyway.
