Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

The Musee D'Orsay is simply the best place for an art lover! So many famous and wonderful works of art under one roof, you need more than one visit for sure! Pick up the earphones for a guided tour of the paintings and pieces; all the great Impressionist painters and many more are represented there. It is all very well set out and if you are short on time, you can use the map to plan your visit. For me, absolutely one of the highlights of our Paris trip

Went with my 7yo & 11yo daughters, awesome experience, magnificent pieces, although young kids get bored after a few hours.

Musee d'Orsay is a converted 19th century train station that houses some great art. Its size make it easier to traverse despite housing the largest collection of painting, sculpture, and decorative objects produced between 1848-1914. Highlights include works from Degas, Gaugin and Rodin.

One of the most spectacular architectural features is its dramatic barrel-vaulted ceiling.

Not to be missed if you

We spent only a few hours but really should have spent a full day at least as there is so much to see. It is a good idea to buy your tickets in advance so that you access by "Porte C" with no queue. The museum itself is marvelous and the building is superb.
