Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

An amazing setting in an old railway station, with an extensive collection of Impressionist paintings.

Best collection of impressionist paintings in the world. A must see in Paris, I would recommend over le Louvre.

This is a must do for all Art lovers. It is smaller and much easier to navigate than some of the others. Wonderful old train station converted with out door views and wonderful art.

Given limited time in Paris (when is a few days ever enough) I would highly recommend skipping the Louvre and visiting this gem if you at all like art, especially Impressionism, for which Paris was truly the center. Housed in an old beautifully modified train station, it contains masterpieces by Monet, Degas, Van Gogh and wonderful works by Sisley and Pisarro. Mostly on the fifth floor (start there first) this is one of the best collections in the world, and not at all overcrowded or hectic. It also houses sculptured and the nice Van Gogh room on the second floor. You can get a reasonable sense of the collection in a few hours. It is reasonably priced around €10 and worth a visit.

The building is incredibly beautiful, an amazing example of adaptive reuse, and the collection is incredible. Buy tickets in advance to skip the lines, and check out the rooftop terrace.
