Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

The resturant behind the clock supplied good food if some what simple faire. The immpressionist paintings excellent and worth the addmission money alone. The only draw back was the hour wait in the rian to clear security. Do visit

“Wonderful use of old railway station”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

Superb museum & art gallery, plus restaurant with views over city from balcony. Reminders of the film Hugo with the large station clock through the face of which you glimpse the cityscape.

“Beautiful building and art”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

The art work here is amazing, as well as the building. I really hated the long security lines, coming from London, the major museums do not charge or do security checks so it's frustrating. If you are staying in Paris for multiple days it may be worth getting the museum pass in advance, and you are able to use an expedited entrance (entrance C). We used our Eurostar ticket to get a 2-for-1 deal. The museum is closed on Mondays.

Their impressionist hall has everything, so many Monet's, Degas's, Cezanne's. There are many Van Gogh's and Gauguin's in another room on the second level. This is where it's all at, really impressive collection. The building itself is an old train station and obsolutely stunning.

I found the museum a little difficult to navigate, very few descriptions are in English so useful to purchase a guide or brush up on your French. The toilets are all hidden away and also the cafes. Lots of stairs, there is an escalator up to the fifth floor but not down. There are elevators if you need one. But overall really great building and art work, I wouldn't miss it.

“Monet and Van Gogh”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

Big and extensive museum. Its a pity visitors are not allowed to take photos. Mostly paintings and sculptures of french artists. Not really a fan but since I've bought the museum pass i might as well go. Fans of Monet and Van Gogh should go there although their collection is not extensive.

“A thrill, every time.”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

Thursday nights this museum is open till late (9:45 pm), which is a great way to end the day! Feast your eyes not only on the magnificent Impressionist paintings, but also in the extraordinary adaptation of a train station. Vive la France!
