Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

“Museum of all artists!”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

If you have to visit a museum in Paris, Musee D'Orsay is it! The building alone is just beautiful - from floor to the ceiling! It has all the famous painters and sculptors in one roof! Love the Le Restaurant, too - the ambiance was just fabulous, food was good and reasonable. A day is what you'll need to really soak in the arts and historical building!

“Impressionist gold mine”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

What a wonderful museum. It is totally impressionist art but displayed lots of artists I was very familiar with and some not so much, It is well organized and spacious so it was easy to ponder a painting or two without blocking the view of others. Loved it! Restaurant was expensive and food just OK, so eat before or wait until after.

“>> The museum that you should visit!! <<”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

If you are in a hurry and had to choose between the Louvre and D' Orsay, I would say go for this! The site used to be an old train station and it is spectacular. You can go to the 5th floor to view the clock face that looks over the city. The second floor gives a great view of the building from the inside - at one end of the second level, you can appreciate the train station.

I have always liked Impressionism and if you would like to see the works of Van Gogh, Renoir, Cezanne, Manet, Monet, etc. there is no better place to be. Or if you just love to appreciate beautiful paintings and sculptures, this is a fabulous place to start! You won't regret coming here. Just for your information, on the first Sunday of every month, entrance is free. Do not be put off by the long queue outside the museum. It took me barely 15 minutes to get in.

A superb setting for a superb art collection. I've been several times and have enjoyed each trip. Get there before midday to avoid the queues.
