Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

If your into Impressionism and a bit more calm and sophistication then this is your place. No cameras, no eating, which is a refreshing change from the bad mannered tourists at the louvre, touching, chewing, pushing. The impressionist's are hidden away at the top, so we made a bee line for them. Upon entry they offer a "passport pass" which if used within 4 days gets you into musee de L'orangerie as well, 14€ choose this option if you love Monet and Renoir and Impressionism and have the time. We also did the fat tire bike tour to Monets garden where our guide talked highly of these two places, we enjoyed being able to smile and nod, yes, we had seen the wonderful spaces show casing the wonderful art.

I love the Musee d'Orsay. It is usually just as busy as the Louvre but it has a sleek design and it is less overwhelming. I love the view of the Seine and the Louvre just across the river as well. A leisurely stroll through the museum (as an amateur art enthusiast) could take a few hours or a few days. Also, the cafe near the impressionist wing is lovely!

This place is amasing. There are Rodins sculptures which makes this visit unforgetable. Also building and place on the river side is interesting. I come backe there always to see Rodin arts d'oeuvres

Visited the Musee d'Orsay for free using the Museum Pass that comes with the Paris Pass. Fantastic exhibition of art and sculptures. Generally not very crowded except for the room with the works of Vincent Van Gogh.

Some of the world's most recognisable works of art are kept here including "Whistler's Mother" (anyone seen the 1997 Mr Bean movie?) and "Bal du moulin de la Galette".

There are no barriers to stop people from getting up close to the paintings and sculptures, which I liked. This really gives you an opportunity to study the art and really take in the artist's work.

Subsequently, there are signs everywhere advising that NO PHOTOGRAPHY is allowed at all, other museums just have "no flash" signs, but here it distinctly says no photography. Which is something else I agree with. What's the point of going to an art museum only to take photos of the art? If you want a picture of the art: go Google the name of the artwork and viola - a full HD picture of it available just for you! ...there were still a couple of oddballs that were taking photos, there were an abundance of staff in every room, but no one really policed this "no photography" thing.

This is definitely a 5/5 attraction!
