There are only 3 set menus to choose from and they don’t do a la carte. Upon sitting down you will be presented with towels to freshen yourself up. My other half and I went for the middle menu, not too big nor too small.
The food is really good quality and the waitresses are all Japanese who know Japanese, French and English. They will explain every dish when presented before you and extra condiments can be requested. Every dish is beautifully presented and we were thoroughly impressed with the presentation.
Of special mention is the sashimi which tasted really fresh. To someone who adores sashimi, you can tell that the seafood was expertly cut with a good knife and by very skilled hands. This is something you can only find in Japan where chefs have to go through very thorough training and stringent courses with exams.
The roasted barley tea is recommended. It has a slight roasted taste to it but not enough to make you feel like you’re drinking grilled food. You can request to top up your tea pot with hot water after the first round is finished to maximise the flavour from the tea leaves.
This restaurant is easy to find if you know which exit to come out from the Metro. The Metro at St Michel exit 4 would be the nearest. The door is really inconspicuous and nearly invisible unless you go there intentionally to look for it. Reservations are encouraged as we nearly didn’t get a seat. Our reservation was at 9pm but we turned up early at 7pm when they were nearly full already. Fortunately we managed to get a seat. Don’t take chances and make your reservations early.
Expect to pay a price for the quality of the food and level of attention paid to the customer. However for this level of fine dining, the price is considered to be in the lower range, which gives the consumer value for money.
Overall 5 stars for the food and level of service. Not a meal to be consumed every day, but something to pamper yourself and a loved one with.
