In a dream of fondant Carpaccio de sanglier...au chocolat followed by cappuccino de potiron, paccheri al ragú and some fantastic ravioli verdi we had the great chance to meet regional tastes of Italy in the heart of the 5th arrondissement. The main courses of fish and beef in crout of salt and hay were in love with the fireplace and the cozy atmosphere, as well as with sommelier Francesca who spoiled us with her extraordinary wine selection. Finally we succumbed to chef Samuel who seduced us with his unforgettable desserts. Expect a fantastic world of taste to be discovered in one evening.

Spent a Friday afternoon here at lunch. While they had the typical lunch special entree+plat or plat+dessert menu, we opted for the four course mini-degustation menu. The tipoff that they liked to experiment is the menu du jour had squid ink pasta. Oddly enough we got one Italian and one English menu.

Our waitress seemed disappointed that we preferred English or French to Italian, but was quite happy to guide us through the choices.

Before getting started they brought some smoked salmon with sponge bread, and polenta chips as amuse bouches, and an interesting selection of breads, flavored with cumin and olive oil.

First course was an eel ravioli. (They did ask us about our preferences, so presumably they have backups should any of the ingredients not meet your needs). This was a play of intense flavors, from both the eel and polenta (yes, intense polenta) and some kind of cheese. My tastebuds were on full alert.

Course two was spaghetti with a speck and mushroom sauce. Fantastic, and they brought some salad for the side.

The meat course was wild duck that had been cooked in straw to give it a barbeque/smoked/roasted result. This was quite fantastic, though part of the wild duck was a bit wilder than the conservative taste buds might like.

The dessert combines cheese, orange slices, and some sorbet/pudding thing; tasty but nowere near the intensity of the first three courses.

They offer a 50-100 wines in their wine list mostly Italian biodynamics. We used a big Amarone, that helped a lot,

The ambiance is country inn, and the food, though refined somehow seemed more in tune with that sentiment than big city food.

We'll be back for the larger degustation menu!

This restaurant in Paris was recommended to me by a doctor in Normandy. it's reputation is spreading fast. I confess to hating chains and celebrity theme restaurants - they are usually more sizzle than steak. This is independent and owned and run by a delightful Italien couple. Creative cooking well presented and served at the right pace. An absolute joy.
